Brian Tyler Talks Dragonball Score

Posted by The Original Bamfer | Crew, Uncategorized | Wednesday 17 September 2008 12:48 am

Brian Tyler, composer of Dragonball’s score, talks briefly about the feel of the film’s music in an interview with Filmmuziek.

Listen to the interview here.

Quick Summary: Brian Tyler says that Dragonball is based in fantasy and thus the score will be more whimsical than his other scores for films based in reality. He also mentions that the tone is “Transformers meets Harry Potter”.

Dragonball Updates!

Posted by JP | Uncategorized | Tuesday 2 September 2008 9:25 pm

Oh noes! JP didn’t post the not-so-new or revealing cast interviews that aren’t all that exciting at all! :( Maybe he’ll make it up by posting something with relevance? Maybe!

In all seriousness, I had trouble with the blog this past weekend. However I didn’t think it was that big of a deal as the ‘news’ wasn’t very exciting anyway. Though in my defense, TOB, Star and Trunks all have posting abilities as well! Maybe they died?

Scooper chelo248 points us to an image that was originally posted on the dbthemovie comments section. The image is what could be a group of character posters for Dragonball. Are they real? Fake? Take a look a the itty bitty pic and decide for yourself!

View image here.

UPDATE: chelo248 has provided us with a much larger version of one of the miniature Bulma posters.

REMOVED BY REQUEST

UPDATE 2: Reposting with ‘permission’. . .

We also have an interesting tidbit from our very own Jesse J via IMDB. It seems there will be an animated portion of the movie.

Animation Department
Mike Jahnke …. lead animator
Jason Labbe …. character rigging
Louis Leung …. animator
Mario Pochat …. animation supervisor
Agustin Robles Villegas …. previsualization artist

Animated opening, perhaps?

Dragonball Trailer Coming October!

Posted by JP | Uncategorized | Tuesday 26 August 2008 5:45 pm

That’s right, the trailer has been officially confirmed for October! Here is what Coming Soon reports:

ComingSoon.net has learned that 20th Century Fox will debut the first trailer for Dragonball in theaters on October 17 with the studio’s video game adaptation Max Payne, starring Mark Wahlberg, on October 17. We’ll have to wait and see whether Fox will release the trailer online earlier that week.

So there you have it! Less than two months away. . .

IGN has more to add:

The first teaser trailer for the live-action feature film version of Dragonball will reportedly hit theaters in October. A studio source informed IGN that, while Oct. 17 is Fox’s “target date,” nothing is guaranteed until the special effects and requisite approvals are in place.

Who likes Dragonball? Fox likes Dragonball!

Posted by JP | Uncategorized | Friday 22 August 2008 9:28 pm

After the utterly ridiculous rumor that Fox was canceling Dragonball hit the webs a source at Superheroflix says hell to the no! It aint so. Here is what the site has to say:

The film was completed a while ago, and the reasons for moving the film’s release date from this summer to next spring was to insure that all of the needed special effects were completed. We have a source that is very close to the film. And he/she says that the first edit is done, and that it has been shown to those “higher ups” at Fox. And that they love the finished film. Our studio contact, who we aren’t allowed to name at the moment, worked on the production, and has seen the completed movie. Everyone involved seems to think they have a hit on their hands, and he even went on to say that it was “pretty darn awesome. There is certainly talk about a sequel. I have no doubt that it will happen. I’m sure that it will be a trilogy.”

No real surprise there. But it’s great to see that the studio is excited about the project.
