Rumor Mill: Pre-viz?

Posted by JP | Images, Rumor | Monday 18 August 2008 11:10 am

Holy Dragonball dry spell Batman!

The lack of any exciting news lately has been killer. Unfortunately I don’t have the remedy. But what I do have is something that could either be a quick look at Piccolo, or a huge load of crock.

DBMB reader Mole-Man claims he saw some early pre-viz work for Dragonball. Did he or didn’t he? You decide!

I got the chance to see some Pre-viz shots of the upcoming Dragoball movie.I can’t tell you how I got to see it,but I can give you descriptions of what I saw.

The shots weren’t very interesting, But I also got to see a render of Piccolo (made before Marsters was cast).

The first shot was just a dragonball floating in the sky, It started to glow and then exploding into the Dragonball logo.

The next shot was of a futuristic motorcycle speeding through the desert and a rocket suddenly hits the back of the cycle causing the driver (didnt look like bulma but i could be mistaken) to fly off and smash into the ground.

The last thing I got to see before having to leave was a render of piccolo. It was very detailed.the only thing wrong was that he looked too young.

He also provided an image which you can view above. I would again like to repeat that I can’t confirm this is true and I am not saying that it is. Just thought we could have a little fun speculating while we await more solid news.

EDIT: Like we all assumed, it’s a load of bull! But hey, it was fun speculating, right?

Info From a User Who Wasinthemovie!

Posted by JP | Images, Justin Chatwin, Rumor | Monday 28 July 2008 2:58 pm

DBMB’s very own forum member Wasinthemovie (great name, huh?) says he was on the Dragonball set during the Mexico City filming. He makes some interesting claims about the film, and has a photo or two to back up his claims.

Here’s what he has to say:

I just listened to your latest podcast, the first one I’ve heard, and while I admire you’re optimism regarding the writing in my opinion it will be fairly shallow.

******SPOILER ALERT******
One of the first scenes we shot was Goku’s bike getting trashed by Texas Battles character “Carey Fuller’s” car. Chatwin says in an adolescent voice “Dude my Bike!”, to which Texas looks over at his friend and responds, “Did you just fart?”

So if that sounds like quality writing, then I guess it’ll be ok. Most of the dialog for the first 6 days follow this kind of teenage drivel…

I was lucky enough to be in the movie so I can only pray they didn’t cut me out of anything, I’m a huge fan so I am very grateful I was able to be in the film but from a critical fan’s point of view I’m going to hate at LEAST the opening scenes dialog, because I, and others, were cringing on set….

Anyway, I also have photo’s on set, I can probably get others, cause we were all taking them, especially of props, like Goku’s bike, etc….

Cya

He also adds, in reference to this photo:

This picture was during one of the few scenes I didn’t get into, I really wanted in these classroom scenes because they were all close ups but there was a lot of political crap going on with the extra casting people… anyway…

Goku with his classmates are looking at pictures of the moon which even a picture causes him to go into a trance and almost transforms him. Chatwin has to stare into the camera in this scene.

I was only on the set for the 6 days of Mexico City filming, I wasn’t chosen to go to Durango… more politics, so ya.

He also posted a new photo of Justin Chatwin and Texas Battle, as well as a never before seen magazine scan:

Wasinthemovie said he doesn’t mind Q&A’s, so if you’d like to ask him anything regarding the Mexico City Shooting, as well as read what else he has to say (and see what other pics he might post) visit the DBMB Boards!

Possible Teaser Trailer Screen Captures? Nope!

Posted by The Original Bamfer | Images, Rumor | Wednesday 23 July 2008 8:15 pm

Superhero Hype! member say-what has posted a few images that they claim to have been told are from the teaser trailer. There is no validity behind these images as of yet, and the watermark at the bottom is a url leading to an entirely unrelated website. There’s a great possibility that these images may not be linked to the film at all, but are interesting, nonetheless, as some of the blurry screen captures feature items that could be Dragonballs as well as settings similar to those we’ve seen in set photos.

UPDATE: Superhero Hype! member chelo248 has also contributed images, though believes they are fake.

UPDATE: After receiving the additional images below, we’ve come to the obvious conclusion that they are, indeed, fake. We have no proof other than the pictures themselves. But we think they say it all.

Dragonball at Comic-Con?

Posted by JP | Rumor | Monday 21 July 2008 7:22 pm

The Hollywood News seems to think that Fox will be promoting Dragonball at this years San Diego Comic-Con.

I’ve got to admit, I know nothing about this movie, except the fact that Fox are taking it to Comic Con later this week, so expect some more promo stuff to pop up online later.

20th Century Fox will be at the Con with a panel featuring Max Payne and The Day The Earth Stood Still. Perhaps they’ll be promoting Dragonball as well. If you’re going to be there don’t hesitate to let us know if you see anything!

San Diego Comic-Con is July 24-27.

Dragonball To Hit March? Update: Mistranslation

Posted by JP | Rumor | Sunday 20 July 2008 10:04 pm

Craig at SHH Forums came across the following article:
Anime News Network  translated the text featured on the recent Dragonball Japanese poster, and here is what it says:

Just as in the previous teaser poster, the new poster’s Japanese text reads when translated: “The legend comes to life.” The new poster also adds the following text: “Opens worldwide at maximum speed on March 13, 2009.”

Worldwide? Previous reports indicated that the US release for Dragonball would be April 10th, 2009. Has Fox bumped up the release date? According to Box Office Mojo, the only other movies being released on March 13th are Paramount’s The Lovely Bones and Buena Vista’s Race To Witch Mountain. Warner Brother’s adaptation of Watchmen is being released the week prior.

Stay tuned for more updates on the release date.

Update: Looks like it was just a mistranslation on ANN part. The US/Canadian release date it still 4-10-09.
