According to DragonballCN 30 minutes of Dragonball footage will be shown at JUMP FESTA 2009!
A prescreening of Dragonball live action movie open to the public will hit JUMP FESTA 2009 (Makuhari, Chiba, Japan) on Dec 20, 2008, the very first day of the 2-day famous Japanese ACG exhibition. With running time of 30 minutes, from 13:20 to 13:50, it’ll be an excerpt with especially selected scenes from the movie which is to be released on March 13, 2009 in Japan.
If you’ll be attending and get the chance to see it, don’t hesitate to fill us in!

Why is nobody upset that Japan gets this film a whole month before the US does? This was filmed in America (North and South) and Akira has nothing to do with it. What do we owe Japan?

I doubt Dragonball would even exist without Japan, so…….pretty sure we owe them that.

We owe Japan a lot. its where Dragonball originated from so of course in a way they do disserve to see it before we do. But i do think we should all get to see it at the same time really cuz there will be people recording the footage so it will be online before we get to see it in cinemas which is a bit crap cuz i will be so tempted to watch a pirate copy but i want to see it properly and for real on the big screen.

Without Japan we’d have no DB/Z. From the beginning i thought Japan deserved to have it before we did. Besides its only a month… and honestly a month isnt that long. Its been a month since we were supposed to have the trailer on Oct. 17th.
We shouldnt complain about Japan getting it first, any big fan of DB/Z should be happy they are getting it first.
Hope someone gets to see it and tell us what its like, or a video of it!

Speaking of the trailer, has there been any supposed news of what movie it’s supposed to be attached to now? The only other movie this holiday i’ll probably be seeing for sure is The Spirit

Again I ask. What do we owe Japan? The Wright brothers flew in North Carolina. They were born in Ohio. You do not see Ohio getting credit for the flight are you? So Japan should not be shown any special treatment. This was made in American(North and South) by an American movie company (FOX) using American/Chinese/Korean/Hispanic actors. The origin has nothing to do with it. If Akira Toriyama had ANYTHING to do with this movie I wouldnt argue. But he DIDNT. Again what do we owe Japan?

It’s a marketing decision, that’s all. This isn’t the first film produced by a North American studio to come out early over seas, and it won’t be the last. You’ll cope, I’m sure.

Hate to burst any potential bubbles, but the PANEL is from 1:20 to 1:50. The footage is only going to be a small part of that half-hour at the festival.
Man, Jump Festa always has awesome stuff. Wish I could go to one.
