Loading ...We Haven’t Seen The Theatrical Trailer Yet, And We Won’t See It With ‘Max Payne’
DB Legends had the opportunity to talk with Twentieth Century Fox about the leaked promotional footage, believed by some to be the theatrical trailer, as well as the trailer we’d see with Max Payne. This is what they had to say:
“First off, we love your enthusiasm for the film. We are so sorry to ask that you remove the content. It is not meant to irritate or discourage you and your readers from following this film campaign. It’s just that the pieces of content that are being leaked were not created to be used this way. They were only meant to be shown to potential Licensing & Merchandising partners who need to make partnering decisions far in advance of release date, and the content has not been approved for online use. Elements like music clearances and even talent approvals have not been pursued because we had no intention of having this go online. Alot goes into a trailer or video being authorized for online use….
We had hoped to have a really kick-ass trailer done by MAX PAYNE’s in-theater date, but because alot of effects shots are still being worked on - we’ve decided to wait until there is more material to work with, so we can really “wow” you and the fans. This is not uncommon for a film that still has 6 months until it goes in theaters. It looks like the real trailer will be released a little later in the year.
Again, thanks for all your interest. I am happy to update you when we get new artwork and approved video to distribute. We appreciate you removing the content, and don’t mean to cause you any headaches with your readers”
In short, the promotional footage that was recently leaked is not the theatrical trailer and that the official, theatrical trailer will not be released with Max Payne on October 17th, but rather later in the year.

Even though I shed some tears, because I told all of my friends to watch the teaser during Max Payne im still happy to know there going to work even harder on the special effects to please all the fans. I hope the real trailer is out of this world and makes me pee my pants.

My friends made a funny joke about the movie, and I kind of didn’t pay attention to it much until I got home.
They said lets pay for another movie, walk in for Dragonball, in the first couple of minutes the second something is exposed as to why this movie sucks: get up, say “WHAT THE HELL IS THAT” or “What the fuck man?”, then leave. LOL.
I kind of was thinking of work but now that I got home and thought about those jokes a little I’m actually thinking of doing that with a group of friends

I think all of this trailer leakage, picture leakage is part of the DB movie producer and directors strategy. They know that DB has so many followers, and it has its own world. So by having this leakages and have fans comment on them, and make the minor changes that they can do so the fans would be atleast happy in a way. They got another 6 months to this little things, maybe by the time the movie comes out, it will close to what DB is all about. This is just a thought, nothing about what I said is fact, but think about.

On another note, I actually didn’t mind the leaked trailer. Ive seen it hundreds of times now and the more I watch it the more I love it.
Especially the score, Credit to Brian Tyler.
The only downnote was a few special effects.

you know what would make me happy. if they put a short clip of krillin doing a cameo in the trailer. That would CHANGE EVERYTHING! Everyones opinion would be flipped from fail to epic. I liked the trailer for what it was, an unfinished demonstration. I didnt think it was the actual trailer, if it had been though I would have finally denounced any faith in this movie. A trailer, even a teaser is meant to wow. This just indulged my curiosity.

According to someone at boxofficemojo.com a movie’s success or failure can be predicted by HSX.com. This is a stock market for movies. He says that dragonball stock is extremely low compared to other big movies coming next year and the recent trailer affected the stock. It went down from 42 to 37. He says watchmen, wolverine and gi joe are all above $150 which means they have potential to do $150 million or above while dragonball won’t do more than 40 million. First,
What’s with the Max Payne haters? That was an amazing game, great story, the trailers look great… I honestly expect more from it than from DB.
Second.
It was a teaser. It was not supposed to be amazing. Having said that… Popular opinion said it was amazing, so I don’t know what’s up with everyone suddenly being excited that that wasn’t the *actual* trailer.
Third.
Even when the final trailer comes out, it will not be the *final* product. It’s a trailer. I’m not sure what everyone is expecting. The trailer is to give you an *idea*. To entice you. The trailer isn’t to entertain. They will not show the whole story. They will not show the best quotations in their entirety, and they will not show the scenes with the best effects, because they save it all for the movie.
I don’t know why everyone expects every tiny detail of this film to be orgasmic.

It looked like f*cking Power Rangers, hell even Power Rangers topped it with those crappy scenes. I know, I know… It was scenes from the beginning when they started to film the movie and the special effects aren’t done yet, yeah, well.. so what. Those scenes WILL and ARE going to be in the movie anyway, just add some minor special effects and it’s good to go. Crap.

I would hate a DB movie that followed the exact script. Look at any movie made from any literature. They change stuff. They have to.

Your statement is well put, however what YOU don’t realize is that this isn’t DB as live action, its an ADAPTATION! Imagine talking pig people or turtles or floating cats or dinosaurs, it would look ridiculous and BOMB like Speed Racer.
Changes have to be made when moving from one medium to another, and in Anime especially. Anime has a very strange way of bringing on comic relief, its like Looney Toons or any other “kiddish” cartoon, not that the stories aren’t serious or whatever, but the way they have comic relief is childish. Could you imagine Chi-Chi’s head growing huge and red and her nose dissapears and her teeth become razor sharp, that would look fucking retarded live action.
When making this an epic adult movie they only take the most realistic aspects of the series; the emotions, story, danger, battles and so on. They can still have plenty of comic relief with Goku’s stupidity without retardly having characters topple over or what not.

Why do I get this sneaking suspicion that there’s more to it than let on? I dunno I just wouldn’t be shocked if they had an ‘accidental’ leak (really, it’s not like it was recorded with a crappy camcorder at some convention, the version we got- it’s not too hard to keep your footage unseen if you dont WANT it seen)..saw the reactions online, pulled the plug and now want to try a different one.
Or not. I just know that things dont leak that often without SOME approval- no matter if they claimed not to.
Either way though, I hope we still get SOMETHING in front of Max Payne.

DB did too have a prophecy. The Dragonballs themselves are in fact a prophecy. All part of the legend. Hell there was another prophecy that came along later on in DBZ. The prophecy of the legendary Super Saiyan.
So,why argue if there’s a different prophecy in this movie? It still involves the Dragonballs.
And I hate when people say that you aren’t a true Dragonball fan if you support this movie or if you like the way Goku looks in this movie.
That’s like saying you’re not a true Boston Redsox fan if you live in Kentucky.
A lot of people seem to talk about it like their loyalty to DB is like that of loyalty to a sports team.
It should be nothing like that.
There are many of us that can say that our lives wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t have DB. I know I would be totally different if I didn’t watch DB.

And they did not leak it to get public opinion on it. All movies have multiple versions of all their trailers. Maybe nobody has ever followed a movie this closely, but it’s not all that different from what The Dark Knight or other movies did during production.

Incidentally, I don’t buy all this “they leaked it on purpose and then ran in fear” conspiracy stuff. It doesn’t gel with what we know.
We know that in August they were still working on big special effect scenes that they were worried wouldn’t be finished in time for a theatrical trailer in October. If all they wanted to show in the trailer was Roshi using a bit of energy, why the hubbub about needing to finish the effects shots in time? There’s no way they spent two months doing a couple of seconds of energy blast for the trailer.
Also, isn’t Immediate Music writing original music for the trailer? The music in that leak sounded rather cut-and-paste to me, not specifically composed for the footage.
Furthermore, the sound quality of the dialog clips is lacking. It doesn’t have the final spit-polish of post production. Same with the sound effects.
There’s no greenband to indicate that the trailer has been approved for ALL AUDIENCES, which the trailer will have to have before going theatrical.
For my money, all the evidence points in the direction of this being exactly what they say it is — a trailer cut together for licensing purposes, never meant to be seen by the outside world. It’s similar to the leaked trailer for ‘Dollhouse’ (Joss Whedon’s new show) that hit the internet a couple of months back, in that it’s obviously unpolished.

Even if they released a really awesome trailer, haters and bashers will not change their minds. They just do it for the heck of it. They’ve got nothing better to do. They won’t ignore it, they just do it to simply make people angry. So it’s just best to ignore.

Yeah no matter what the outcome, there has NEVER been a movie that’s been 100% well received by fans, especially one as highly scrutinized as this- from day one, any film based on the Dragonball property was bound to be intensely scrutinized, period.
We can only hope they didn’t COMPLETELY screw everything up- it’s already CERTAIN that some aspects most of us HATE… so we know we wont be 100% satisfied, but we can hope there’s something worthwhile to all this wait. What, if anything, that is, I don’t know. Yet. I think Wong is a fan, so has some respect, though.

They’re basically crappy versions of the demons Piccolo created in Dragon Ball (Tamborine, Cymbal, Piano, etc) In this movie, Piccolo uses a tank and makes them from his DNA. In the manga, they hatched from an egg he spit out, the same way Piccolo Jr. was created.

Wow, it must be true because rudeboy said it so many times…
I think everybody needs to go back and watch all of DB again, because people keep commenting on how stupid Goku looks, or critiquing the direction the movie is taking…
It seems like it’s a blog full of DBZ fans that are mad that the Goku/Piccolo battle will not be the Frieza/Goku battle.
The Piccolo/Goku battle was almost pathetic. Piccolo gets big, Goku flies inside him to get Kami in the bottle thing. The announcer is still announcing the whole time…
People need to keep this stuff in mind.
Goku is pretty much a total dork until he gets killed by Raditz. If anyone remembers, most of the battle with Piccolo was a joke to him. His battles after that he treats a little more seriously. Thus we have the DBZ Goku who is not quite as much of a dork as the DB Goku…
That took way longer to say than I anticipated. Haha.

Actually, Peter Jackson did a lot similar to that.
Peter Jackson actually made Frodo an entirely different character in the movies than he was in the book.
true, he sort of stuck to the plotline (he took a lot of liberty though…)
Frodo was made into a wuss that always has to rely on other to get anything done for him. He was exactly the opposite in the books.
Goku on the other hand, from what we’ve been told, is the same character. He’s just in a different environment.
Are you defined as a person by the location you are at? Or by your personality?
Frodo was in the same *places* in the book as in the movie, but his character was a complete reversal.
Goku on the other hand, may be in school instead of in the woods, but does that mean his personality is violated? Absolutely not.
If you want to argue that he wasn’t educated in the manga/anime just look at most of the people that post here as an example… school doesn’t seem to have helped them much.

You are correct man. I think its time for people to stop bitching about this movie. Nothing can be done now. Its made…its being edited…and no amounts of pathetic petitions are going to change that. I for one am GLAD they are mainstreaming this. I mean seriously. If I wanted to see talking animals and witches and Frankenstein looking androids Id watch Harry Potter or something. Lets face it. There are some childish notions in DB and DBZ that most Americans just wouldnt find entertaining at all. They would find it stupid and not bother with this movie. And another thing. Even if they started out with Goku as a kid in the woods…who would play him? Who’d want to see that? Where else would a young Goku be in a Hollywood adaptation? High School duh! This isnt 100 years ago where kids stayed home from school to work on a farm! And who would want to see Goku picking potatoes? (and yes im aware that Goku does kind of have a farmer mentality but im talking about barns and livestock and that whole nine yards).
I am generally a purist when it comes to movies. But I think they made some VERY good moves with this adaptation. Justin Chatwin looks fine for Goku. Goku isnt muscle-bound in the beginning anyways. I dont have any problems with any of the cast. They stuck with low budget actors so they could have more money to do special effects. We all want story and emotion but lets face it…99% of us want to see awesome special effects FIRST!

The cast isn’t necessarily “low budget” though. Look at the cast of LOTR. Mostly smaller names. Who wants to see a cast like oceans 12 for DB? Big name actors would mean Orlando Bloom as Goku. Leonardo DeCaprio as yamcha. Johnny Depp as piccolo. Etc.
Yeah, I was purposefully over the top with that.
But look at the names. If they are not moderately big names, they are definately up and coming.
