DUHHHHHHHHHH You guys. There you have it. Ugly pale piccolo was not an accident or mistake, or the fault of naive designers. It was Marsters wish. The Antagonist of the film. This better shut some peoples traps, thought the majority of people are still going to complain. He will be more true to DBZ piccolo in the next film, should there be one.

thats good that he’s old looking and ugly…but the fact that he’s not green, he has no antennas and his ears arent that pointy destroy the look. The armor/suit does look pretty bad ass however, and Marsters will most likely do a good job with the character, but he’s still only 5′9, where has lord piccolo/piccolo should be around 6′2….but of course they can make him look taller with lifts, and certain shots…..

i mean i agree the pictures we got didn’t look that good, but who knows…maybe when he regains his youth his appearance will look more “namekian”. i think the only way to really judge their adaption of piccolo is to see the movie.

Most of the flying will be computer animation no doubt like in spider man…and well…most of the time it ends up looking crappy like in the matrix or spider man movies…i really wish this had more than 100 million bucks…it sounds like alot but it really isnt for this type of movie……..

There was flying in DB. Tenshinhan was the first to do it, I think. I havent read the books in a while, but I’m pretty sure he was the one who taught goku how to do it when he turned into a good guy.

Goku killed Piccolo by fireing a kamehameha to the ground launching him into the air, and then Goku threw his arm back, and behind him you can see the Oozaru, then Goku punched King Piccolo in the stomach and went right threw making a huge gap. Moments before he died he shot an egg out of his mouth, which was Piccolo Jr.

Tien did have the ability to fly if I am not mistaking. But to be honest, dragonball did not give emphasis to flying. Dragonball Z overdid the flying in my opinion

The fights, and the era of DragonBall this is going to be based on, is probably more the 23rd Budokai, where 18-year-old Goku fought Piccolo Jr. Most of the major fighters were capable of flying at that point, although in a limited manner compared to later; Goku, Kuririn, Piccolo, Chaozu, and Tenshinhan all could fly.
Great to hear about Lord Piccolo’s wish. Here’s hoping that green returns with the youth!
Also, Piccolo does have antennae. They seem to be “retracted” somehow, but they’re there. Fiddle with the contrast and brightness on the pictures to make up for the bad lighting, and you can see them. Ears are plenty pointy, and the costume is cool. So let’s just keep our fingers crossed about the green, and things should be hunky-dory!

No, his face is too mature and adult looking. That was one of the traps I was afraid they’d fall into when casting Goku. Sayians, especially Goku, look younger than their real age. I was afraid they’d use an actor with a mature, manly face that looks too old for the role.
I was releived that they avoided that trap with Chatwin. At this point, this aspect is much more important than muscles because Goku wasn’t that big in the piccolo saga.
They can still train him for the next movie.

I don’t know about the anime (although ive seen it plenty enough) but in the manga goku uses the flying technique or Baku-jutsu for the first time ever as his final attack against piccoolo when his entire body has been broken. After which piccolo is knocked out of bounds and goku wins the tournement.

He didn’t say that Picollo the character is going to transform in this film. He’s saying that he would like the transformation of himself ( a young guy, sort of ) into an old, decrypt Piccollo as an actor, to be memorable. Ie; the transformation of a down to earth, easy going heath ledger, into the sadistic, lunatic that is the Joker was a memorable aspect of the Dark Knight.

As long as there is Kami so he can train Goku I’ll be happy. Or if Kami isn’t there then maybe the movie version of Goku could be stronger than the manga/anime. Because he would have been training with Grandpa Gohan for a longer time before going to Roshi in the movie. Not to mention I sure he had fights somewhere within his 18 years on Earth.
Who knows maybe we might even get Korin but in human form.

Everybody complains about movies like Mortal Kombat. What did they do wrong? They took the story too literally. Can you honestly see that dude fighting in live action? If you can, fine… you just have crappy taste.

What I don’t like is how they’re changing characters and Goku’s age. They should stop messing with it.
I also hope that the flying doesn’t look extremely fake. I hope it’s more of a “Superman” type of flying than kung fu movie flying.
Before I forget, Goku fights the Red Ribbon Army as a kid, and the androids say it in DBZ. How are they gonna put all of the stuff together from when he was a kid and show it there? (Sorry if my question doesn’t make much sense)

Okay I’ve never posted on here before so here go.
Well I’m kinda thinking/hoping that regaining his youth will return his green skin, I also thing that the pictures we all saw were of the older piccolo I definitely think fox will keep the piccolo under wraps until you see it in the movie.
Imagine how awesome it would be to see the dragon grant piccolo wish and then see a perfectly green skinned piccolo emerge and take on goku in the finale fight of the movie.
Either that or he’ll remain to be that pale cream color (Doesn’t look yellow to me) and in that case we all get to riot!!!!

Hannah will only make money off of the little American girls so I could really careless Sure she will make a lot but parents will only take them once or twice. Dragonball will already be in Japan and the hype they will create will be all over the Internet/tv so if it does well in Japan expect it to be big Over Here. Well its been a few years since Matrix 3, so hopefully the stunt team who created the flying effects for that movie have developed more high tech tools for this movie to make things more fluid.
I mean I’m sure they know that dragonball will require a lot more flexibility than the matrix when it comes to air combat.

So I got a chance to see one of the first preview screenings of the new Dragonball movie. Obviously skeptical and slightly worried how my childhood favourites would be portrayed on the silver screen, I was delightfully surprised to find out that it wasn’t as bad as I expected. So heres my opinions:
- Some of the actors were slightly miscast, Yun-Fat Chow as Master Roshi was always going to be a bad idea. His perverted-ness is completely erased and frankly he feels like a modern Mister Miyagi. That said a few of the actors fit their roles perfectly, Emmy Rossum, James Marsters & Jamie Chung were awesome. I am still stuck for an opinion on Chatwin considering he portrays Goku in a different way from what I came to expect. I’ll get back to you on him.
- The special effects are amazing. Thats all that needs to be said about them really. Absolutely spectacular. They are not photo-realistic, but then again they were never supposed to be. I won’t spoil to much though!
- The script is flawed and at times feels very rushed but it fits I suppose. Ben Ramsey did a more than good job but as a true Dragonball fan I am never going to be completely satisfied. Characters such as Krillin could have easily been included and would have fit right at home within James Wong’s Dragonball and to be honest, I don’t know why they were omitted.
The movie will possibly garner lukewarm reviews upon release but a casual Dragonball fan will enjoy it’s fun, lively take on the mythos. I for one recommend it & I can’t wait to see it again when it’s released next year!!

Spectacular at times. Other times it is fairly obvious that the fighters arn’t the Hollywood actors. Everything is done well, energy balls fly in all directions and surroundings are destroyed. Whats to be expected though, this is Dragonball?!
2. How green actually is Piccolo
Piccolo at the beginning, as his older-self is more pink than green. He changes about half an hour towards the end to his usual green. He looks very different from the cartoon in appearance. He lacks the usual white turban and purple jumpsuit. Plus his antenna are missing. This is beyond the point though because Marsters IS Piccolo, and the fact he plays the character so well means that his appearance really doesn’t matter.

4. How many fights are there
It depends how you refer to fights. There are lots on confrontations within the film but there are around four big fights in total. Two of which happen towards the end.
5. Whats the Oozaru look like
Oozaru is a beast in this film. Typically because of this been Hollywood he doesn’t kill Grandpa Gohan like in the original Dragonball series. That said, he does make Bulma crap her pants.
6. How long was it
93 Minutes Approx.
7. What rating will it be
Chances are a PG-13. The MPAA hasn’t rated it yet though. Note the fact I was at the FIRST preview screening.
8. Anything after the credits
Yes, only something tiny though. Goku flies off into the sunset.
9. Hows shrenron look
I don’t know how you expect me to describe these things but; alot of the time he is glazed out by bright orange light, his face anyway. It is possibly one of the only designs that stays almost complete true to it’s anime form.

Two fights between Goku & Piccolo. One ends in Piccolo’s favour the other in Goku’s. A fight between Goku and Yamcha and the earliest one, a fight between Goku and Master Roshi, this is when Goku first arrives at Roshi’s and the old man has no idea who he is.

What’s the dialogue like? Any cheesy one-liners?
The dialogue was actually rather witty in a sense. There are some clever lines and Goku, although supposedly an educated teenager, still acts like the uneducated child he was in the original Dragonball series, maybe not as obviously though.
What’s the highschool scenes like? Is he the cliched geeky student who discovers he has super powers?
No, he doesn’t discover he has the powers because Grandpa Gohan has already trained him slightly. The High School scenes oly feature Goku as almost a freakshow. Forced to fight a bully, demonstrating his power by lifting objects etc. Everyone knows of his power and in the highschool scenes he isn’t afraid to show it.

Are the fights like the Matrix?
There are some bullet time style sequences but alot of it is very similar to the series, fast paced, then slow bits in the middle which usually revolve around a character saying something.

He is pale green.
Is it funny?
There are funny parts. The idea of Goku and Chichi had some of the audience giggling. Goku is oblivious to the fact that Chichi clearly fancies him, lots of distractions & confusion ensues.
Will fans enjoy it?
It depends what the fans are expecting. If the fans are expecting a perfect transition from the anime into Hollywood, then no, chances are they won’t like it. If they watch the film with an open mind and see that the actors, although sometimes don’t look like the Dragonball characters, they play them very well.
Do you think itll be a big film?
With todays Box Office stature it is hard to tell. As I said earlier, chances are it will be met with lukewarm reviews but it is an enjoyable romp.
What special moves from the show appears?
Obviously Goku’s signiture, the Kamihamiha wave appears, along with Piccolo’s Special Beam Cannon, and Destructive Wave. Yamcha uses his Wolf Fang Fist and Bulma uses a gun!
Is the Oozaru a tall ape like beast?
It’s not as huge as it was in the anime. It is almost werewolf in appearance but easily towers over characters such as Piccolo.

Anon’s comment are certainly interesting, but quite dissapointed to hear that Roshi’s pervertedness side of him is erased. I had a small impression that he did, based on his interviews and such. If that turns out to be true, then I so can’t wait to see Goku and Chichi’s scenes, and the fight scenes as well

She is lying. why would someone say around 93 minutes? Most people when rounding say either 90, 95, or 100, but not 93 minutes. And shesays that Roshi is not a pervert, Yun Fat already said he was. It would seem to convinient that she spoke about the film after oozaru was revealed to be 8 foot monster.

Hannah has no Energy powers but her singing will kill! Goku is obviously strong but can he beat her horrible singing! Goku attacks hannah, sending her flying, Hannah attacks back with a verse from one of her songs! Goku falls down in terrible pain! Goku sees a weak point. He puts his hand over her mouth. He punches her in the stomach repeatedly! He then relases a Kamehameha in frot of her, blowing her away!
