Exciting news…but they don’t look that great at all, rather ugly actually… i know they’re just conceptual designs…But they’re probably going to look exactly the same as the final thing….I mean they lack in detail and originality that the DBZ series had…
To sum up these designs styles really quickly….A super simplistic ugly version of DBGT

They may look ugly like DBGT, but you have to remember. This is straight from Toriyama himself. It’s not going to be like DBGT.
They may look lame or ugly, but he has something planed and in store for us. I believe that he wouldn’t be making this if it wouldn’t be a good thing. I mean…He loves Dragonball but at the same time, and you can tell reading bio’s and the manga and other interviews with him that at times he could have cared less with it.
So after twenty years or so I think he has a good idea and though they may look ugly something big and awesome will come of this.

You know, looking at the pic of the little saiyan makes me think of something. Does anybody else wonder what happened to Trunks and Goten’s tails? The never showed it when Trunks was a baby and when they got older they never really explained what happened to them. Guess it was just one of those storylines that Toriyama didn’t want to revisit, so he just kind of didn’t give them tails and hoped no one would notice. lol

I think it’s been implied that Goten and Trunks were never born with tails most likely for the reason you stated.

The perfect plot : the future.. the sayans got mixed with the people from earth,so they lose most of their powers,new characters:some guys from the future,goku comes back when they found the dragonballs,vegeta uses a time machine to go to the future like trunks ,in the cell saga.

i’m like 100 percent sure something badass will come out of them. Kinda like Fat Buu or the first form of Frieza, they look stupid, but at the end… they’re the coolest looking badasses ever.
It’s a trick so that you’ll be surprised by the end product and it worked in Dragonball Z

No offense to any ppl who like the characters but they look terrible, like something a little kid would come up with. There were no henchmen, or even side characters who looked this bad in DBZ. Even some of the stupider looking henchmen of frieza at least had more detail to themselves than these.
Whats with the super skinny legs and fat torso’s. Toriyama always made muscular or intimidating enemies. These things look like jokes.
I hope these are just some useless side characters or they transform or something, or else they might as well top off the special by bringing Guldo from the Ginyu Force back into the picture. Maybe he put them on his Chili burger diet
Sorry i’m so negative there is just so many bad looking pictures for this special and the movie that have surfaced lately that gives the impression the Dragonball franchise has is going down the tubes.

Well, my hypothesis on the tail issue is that I think(just my opinion mind you) that some of the children, which were mixed(half human & half sayain), took the characteristic of their human side instead of the sayain side. Out of all the mixed children, Gohan was the only one who took the genes of his father which gave him the tail. Which also made him the strongest character of the whole DBZ series because he had the sayain tail trait(which is where the sayians got there power from) and the added human trait which made him the first of any sayain to reach Super Sayain 2. Once again, just my own logical opinion mind you.

They look pretty cool to me. I doubt any of these are the “new, powerful enemy”. I don’t think that guy’s been revealed yet, because these current characters shown don’t look like that can even hold a candle to Frieza.

Keep in mind this is concept art for the anime special. The anime was never as detailed as the manga covers like the picture you showed. It looks like Toriyama just colored this with a program like Microsoft paint just to give the animators an idea of what color they should be. Go back and look at the poster and they look a lot better than this. Not as good as the manga covers, but still they look very well-done…a lot better designs than anything from the movie. Plus it’s Toriyama so DB + Toriyama + fresh story after about 15 years = awesomeness.

yes, the last guy is a fusion between Abo and Kado and that’s why his name is Aka (A+Ka).
Also in english it only saids Aka, but in
Japanese it saids “Gattai Aka” which means

I gess that some dragon ball fans are experiencing some post traumatic experience after DB GT.. lool but guys this movie does not look like DB GT rest ashore! first off all the images are cnceptually designed by Akyra toryama sensei witch is a big difrence from DB GT that was created by some TOEI ANIMETION punks that doesn t know shit about wath s dragon ball true essence represents. For those of you that are complaining about the characters, you have to remember that we are all older now so these pics will look lame.
Toriyama is aiming for a certain audience,(next generation) as he knows more kids would like it and most importantly tell their parents to BUY it than past fans. I would not pay for this, but it doesnt mean i wouldnt be able to get my hands on it.

That’s because he’s Vegeta’s son. Plus we all know Toriyama recycles his character designs, just look at Blue Dragon and you’ll see Android 18 dressed like a pirate and some kid dressed like the Great Saiyaman. Toriyama is still my favorite manga artist though.

On the new Saiyan: I love him! He’s your typical basic saiyan, and looks like he has attitude… He may still be working for some of friezas left over henchmen… hence the scanner.
On the two little guys: Sometimes simplicity is more. We dont need super detailed villians… Cool it ok? And wait till the special comes out.
On the big guy: He does remind me of dodoria… I dont think he’s a fusion of the other two, i just cant see it… And i love the way he looks..
Its been YEARS since akira did something for the dragonball universe… Of course it looks a little new… the first promo shot (with goku in the middle) looked a little new a a slightly new style. He might be pressured to do whatever the production company wants him to do.

Why is it that cartoons from 80’s and early 90’s have wayyy better Art work and animation than the crap we see on TV today? honestly growing up in the 80’s as a kid and early 90’s was the best era to be a kid, everything was colorful, creative, imaginitive, original, the music was amazing, the movies were freaking fantastic, people were more daring with styles, everything was so fun and crazy, even the commericals, and the cartoons were thee’ greatest hands down….
And now, It seems like like the creater of DBZ is following this new crappy generation of cartoons giving us a ‘2000’s’ simplified uglier and less ‘time spent’ version of DBZ…Sure we havent seen the real stuff, or even seen it in motion yet, but by going by these terrible designs, you really get an idea

The 80’s amd 90’s were the best. Less crime,people could walk down to the shop without feeling intimidated, children played in the streets safely, playing games like Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe were amazing!!!

The purple guy is named AKA. And the red and blue lil guys are named AVO and KADO.
Umm..
Avo + Kado = Aka.
Blue + Red = Purple.
In other words. It’s fairly obvious they COMBINE to become the purple guy. At least that’s my guess. They (avo and kado) are apparently, according to a synopsis of the story I read someplace… searching for Taburu (Who is the Vegeta looking guy).
Taburu = Table… = VegeTABLE … or obviously related to Vegeta. Brother? Maybe. Clone? Possibly.
There’s also a LITTLE bitty guy that is in the big poster promoting this special, the one where Goku is doing a Kamehameha.. here’s my guess at the story:
Taburu comes to earth on accident. He is being chased by Avo and Kado. They are some kind of alien group who are obsessed with the infamous saiyan race. They have cloned many of the saiyans, including Vegeta… tampering with the DNA to make them controllable. But this clone of Vegeta got away.
The little alien comes to warn Goku and friends about the impending arrival. Avo and Kado are merely henchmen working for the real enemy, who we haven’t seen yet. At first they seem harmless and then become AKA.
At the end, the little bitty alien transforms into something badass and helps Goku and the rest fight the REAL enemy and save Taburu.
Meanwhile, Vegeta faces in Taburu a look at the evil self he once was.

The name of the sayians originally came from names of vegetables. kakarott = karat(hope I am speling it wright) for example. vegeta + table = vegetable, so this new sayan is without a doubt related with Vegeta.. my gess is that he is his brother. as far as the other two is concerned, I think its obvious the last fat guy is a fusion of the other two, and I cant helpd to observe that the two of them are very similar to dodoria and monster zarbon, so just like freeza had his enchmen my guess his that this two are the enchmen of another powerfull villan that will not be revealed till the movie comes out and that villan his possibly related som how with Freeza. conclusion: THIS MOVIE WILL KICK ASS…

there is nothing wrong with bashing quality vs. non quality.
I think Toriyama did a great job with db and some of dbz. Cell saga got iffy and buu saga was totally horrible. So I like the guy, but obviously he is hit and miss.
The movie is fine as well. I seem to remember reading that Toriyama had a hand in it on some level anyway…
So yeah. Quit being fanboys and observe something objectively using your brains for once.

Ya Danny, i agree with you man. And as far as being excited about videogames goes, I’m super excited for Mega Man 9 for WiiWare! I havent been this excited for a videogame in years, and i’m 23.
I mean nothing on the 360 or PS3 interests me..Although Siren:Blood Curse and Braid are pretty cool…And who doesn’t love Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii? Not to mention Wario Land Shake it! and Samba de amigo will be great…Anyways, I’m a retro gamer all the way, this new shit with all of this SCFI commando first and 3rd person bland colored crap is horrible, yet the current generation of these teeny bopper tards eat it up. The idustry seems to be lacking major MAJOR creativity when compared to the Nes,Genesis and Snes days.

“up Guys, I just saw Disaster movie and that is a FAIL!”
I saw the trailer for it. Didn’t even crack a smile. IGN described it best in their review saying that it’s a movie that warrants negative stars, lol. But they gave it a 0/5 stars.
Anyway, I have reasons to doubt that any of these new characters will be the ‘main’ bad guy. Unless the purple guy is really tough, but a Frieza’s henchmen? If they are? Who knows. There’s nothing on the Wikipedia page for this right now.

man I dont like to play god fan vs bad fan but, I saw people saying that the cell saga and the buu saga were a pile of crap and that Kid Buu was the worst villan!!!! cell saga and buu saga are 3/4 of dragon ball Z, and considering that anybody likes DB GT I just have two questions for you: what do you like bout Dragon Ball and why you bother on coment in Dragon Ball blog if you think that Dragon Ball is mostly a piece of crap with lausy villans??!?! Definitly some people dont make any sense at all..

No, I didn’t mean the manga. I meant the upcoming anime special with story/character designs from Toriyama himself. I don’t think he’s making this into a manga, but he’s drawing the character designs and writing the story…filler not included.

srry, I was confused because theres people talkng about the cell/ buu sagas and then those about the special.
Oh and I had a dream about watchin the movie from start to finish. Dear god when i was dreaming it was great, but awake i hope thats not what we get. For example the piccolo was cartoony green and acted like a pompous drag-queen and bulma was one of gokus class mates aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

omg the buu saga sucked. u kno why? cuz EVERYONE got so FUCKING POWERFUL they thought they were TOO COOL.
it started with fucking goku. he turned super saiyan 3 and beat buu around. he coulda fucking killed him, but no. he didnt. he was like “well imma leave it to u guys to beat him cuz im too cool.” and ran away.
then gotenks was next. he was maaad strong. so strong he could go to different dimensions. but noo. he was too cool to beat up buu right away. so he was doing all these stupid attacks while buu destroyed half the world. and he got his ass absorbed.
then came mystic gohan. yea he was super powerful. he coulda killed buu right away. but once again. nooo he was too cool to kill buu. so he got his ass absorbed too.
then hope seemed lost, but then vegeta came back to life (after actually trying to kill buu, unlike the rest of these douches). he fused with cocky goku to create a…SUPER cocky vegetto
vegetto coulda killed buu in like one blow. so WHY THE FUCK didnt he kill him??? because he thought he was too cool. he was like “u kno wat imma get my ass absorbed ON PURPOSE! so i can save everyone from the inside.”…like there ARENT ANY FUCKING DRAGONBALLS!
what happens? goku and vegeta take out their friends, only for bu to turn into kid buu and BLOW UP THE FUCKING WORLD!! they did all that saving shit FOR NOTHING!!!
damn all these cocky bastards.
vegeta was the smart one in the end. he told goku to throw the spirit bomb. and golu was like oh no i cant.
“THEN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE IS GOING TO DIE!!!!”
go vegeta. i mean he was cocky in the other sagas, but he actually tried in this saga. everyone else was a douchebag.
that is why the buu saga sucks.
they better make a really good dragonball story for this movie. it better not be stupid like the buu saga.

Dragonball / DBZ is practcially perfecr upuntil the end of the frieza saga, thats where it originally end Db to frieza saga, cella nd buu sagas are good, but u can tell where it was origianlyl ennt to enbd..but Buu is still ym fav character, the crazy little god !

i wish future trunks came back to the majin buu saga because he was the smartest person in the series. he fucking killed everyone right away. when he fought freeza, he didnt take 50 episodes to kill him. he slashed him up right away.
when he went back to the futute to fight the androids, he killed them mad quick. when cell came, he didnt let him become perfect. he just blasted him into obvlivion. he hardly fought him.
future trunks is the coolest and shoulda been fighting majin buu. the fight woulda been quicker

Without all the FLWS that the characters have, theyd be BORING characters and TOO GOOD AT EVERYTHING. Theres reasons characters have flaws.

trunks was the best character but Chibi Vegeta’s right, the series would have sucked if everyone had not made mistakes and threw their own twist into the plot. Imagine how many characters and storylines they would have had to have created just to keep the series going. it would have failed if every week another super powerful dude is once again taking over the world so Goku is just gonna knock his head off before the plot thickens…(yea i typed this in a rush forgive my grammer if its bad)

Ya the Buu saga got too carried away with everybody being too powerful, the fusions, the cockyness and toying around and stupidity….And Buu just didn’t feel threatening, everything was so silly and not serious…..It is the weakest Saga imo, but it till has it’s high points, but meh.
The Frieza and Cell Saga were amazing.

The buu saga was just pure fun and funny in my mind. I loved Goten and Trunks… I love that Trunks was raised by Vegeta, that was just awesome… I loved the tournament… I loved lots of things about it, it jut seems entertaining in a light kinda way, i think it was a good way to end the series. Its one of my favorites…
I think if you dont like the series in its entirety, you arent that great of a fan.

Exactly, just like the Joker in TDK. Both of them were psycho murderers with no purpose at all, just create chaos, kill and destroy.
Thats why I loved the Buu saga and TDK´s Joker.
By the way, these are concept arts, not the final design, some of you people are just too dumb to realize this. The final product will be much more better.
Akira Toriyama also made concept arts like these when doing DB and DBZ, but the final product was better.
Sometimes I wonder if we live in a world filled with dumb people.

I agree Tito, ive been a huge animation fan for a long time and once wanted to be an animator. Concept designs are something you SHOULD NOT judge.
We havent seen them fully animated yet. Cool your jets everyone.
And even though they are concept drawings, i think they kick ass.
Kid buu was awesome.. but i did love Fat Buu, what a character. And how can you not love the “Bibidi, Babidi, Buu” pun? I mean really?!
The buu sagas were my favorite over frieza and cell. I loved them all, but the buu saga wins in my mind by about 1%. I just loved Vegeta, Bulma, Goten, Trunks, Krillin, 18, Goku, Videl, Gohan, Hercule. It was a great story. It was a FUN story..
