What why does everyone think goku would resist a hug. In the anime at first he is not really comfortable with chichi being so affectionate but some where down the line he got used to it because by the end of Dragonball him and chichi were huggy when they went off to look for the bancho fan.

I love the crowd… you can see the empty spots… I bet they’re gonna duplicate people and make it all repetitive. That’s awesome. I hope they do stuff like that. Or do the repeating scenery when they’re flying or running. That type of stuff will make this an awesome adaptation.
And yeah, there’s absolutely no telling how that will look after editing, sfx, music, and such…
But it is something.

they don’t show the end of the fight. I think the crowd will be mostly post production. Duplication as well as noise.
I’m starting to think maybe this isn’t the world martial arts tournament though. It seems like a smaller deal, that’s why Goku isn’t in his gi. Or maybe it was just a prelim (not on the main stage)

im kinda not liking the wmat setting…. i know some of it is inside in dragonball but i would really like to see an outside arena, if goku doesnt fight in an outside arena im going to be pissed! i will prob be the only one who yells “FUCK!” in the theater when goku is in the finals….. and i think this movie will be more like the ending of dragonball. gokus grown up and so is chichi. but we all know its an “adaptation” of dragonball so iono. chatwin does look and sound like goku if you ask me. ive seen every episode of db,dbz, and dbgt and i would actually like to see something different. hell if anything everyone should look at this movie as something completely new. i mean just look at the movie “doom”, yeah it was nothing like the games and books but if you ask me it was an ok movie. same goes for resident evil….. well the first resident evil. the other 2 were really good. they might mess up the story and stuff in the first one but the other 2, im sure they will do something to make this movie kick ass. people if your reading my post please for the sake of dragonball stop blaming this movie. if you do then people wont go see it and dragonball will get a bad rep all together. now is that what you want? for people to think of dragonball as some kind of bullshit anime? just have high hopes. all of the major chars are in the movie and that all we need. krillin was just in the anime as comedic relief. and tien well he wasnt in dragonball all that much anyway, well not as much as everyone else. i would like to see the flying nimbus in the movie but i really dont think they will put it in but im not going to knock the movie cuzz of the things that arent in it. im just glad that they will have all of the key stuff in. i mean come on what would goku do? he would stay optimistic until the end.

An outside arena wouldn’t make one difference besides someone getting bird crap on there head. Krillin was most certainly not in there for the “comedic” relief, he was in there to prolong the story, make a richer and deeper feel and give Goku a friend that would be by his side until the end. Thats like saying that Bulma was in there because men needed boobs. Tien was absolutly a part of the series! Hell they even had a saga for him. and was frequently in the series.
Not disagreeing with you on the movie. We should all give the adaption a chance and not nay say when we have nothing to base this on besides a few blurry cellphone videos. Personally I loved the atmosphere and how smoothly things went. The one thing I did not like was how willingly Goku accepts her hug and doesn’t take it as a strange thing that girls do. You cant change what we all saw.

Yeah, well I’m looking at this movie sort of like I look at most of the DB/DBZ anime movies… Many of them contradict others.
Look at the movie “Path to Power”. It totally changes the RRA story. Krillin isn’t in it at all (just like this movie) along with some other changes to the RRA plot.
I’m with you, Fayel, I’ve seen every episode of all 3 series, along with most of the movies. I don’t want to see a direct conversion to live action. I want something new.

The reason they made him so willingly except a hug is because he’s not as (let’s face it) dumb as he is in the manga. And change can be a good thing. Give the flick a chance, though to me it’s going to feel a bit like a marvel movie. I’m not that big a fan of marvel movies, but Iron Man and X-Men were good, so was the first Spider-Man. I hope this movie’s as epic as The Dark Knight! That would be amazing!

Yeah I agree. I mean if they’re trying to make this movie a little more based in reality it wouldn’t make too much sense to have Goku and Chi Chi in a world martial arts tournament unless they were olympic athletes or something. Who knows.

Can people stop comparing to TDK?
TDK was good, but this movie could be *way* worse than TDK and still be an amazing movie (yes, I thought TDK was that good)
It’s just not a fair comparison at all. TDK broke a million box office records… it’s no simple feat. I won’t mind if this movie does that, but there is no way in hell it’s going to. That’s just absurd to expect that from a movie like this.

Seeing this small video, and seeing the fact that the cameras are stationed to see the whole body of the fighters is actually a bad idea for a movie where the actors movement and poses are so rigid.
Good directors would spot this easily when they see the pose, to fix this type of dilemma when filming is to easily have the camera stationed near the actors where they would notice the upper part of the body, and scene changes would occur in a way where it would not be confusing to the audience. Second is that the final throw in the end, should have been captured with more effort, as in make it look like the actor wanted to do it, the only way to do this is a close up to the actors face. I seriously hope that this is not the final cut for this scene.
Now I know the scene is not the same since it came from a cellphone from an audience from the set, but seeing where the camera is and seeing right in front of it as if you were the camera man, is what gave me this conclusion.
And directors should be able to do this, so that each scene is shot to its utmost perfect capture. But seeing from where the cameras were, this scene is the worst.
