DBthemovie has new, very sexy, scans from Jumps SQ’s August issue.
Some very interesting things going on here. Chow’s scarf is very reminiscent of a turtle neck, and I think the shirt he’s wearing speaks for itself. Chatwin’s blue Gi is a nice homage to Goku’s original outfit.

Justin Chatwin (Goku)
I am very honored to be able to play Goku. When I am playing gentle and loving Goku, I feel as if I am given energy from him. In the movie, I have a lot of great action scenes. After the movie is finished post production, I’ll get to see my Kamehameha appear on the screen, and I get very excited when I imagine that.
Chow Yun-Fat (Master Roshi)
On my career as an actor, it is my first time to play a manga character. Dragonball is read all over the world, have many hard core fans. I hope they won’t be disappointed by my acting (laugh). But to be honest with you, I’m totally satisfied with my performance as Master Roshi.
Emmy Rossum (Bulma)
It is a very exciting thing for me to play Bulma, because I’m a big fan of her myself. She’s intelligent, motivated and has a short temper like a teenager. I really want to make all the fans of her happy.
Joon Park (Yamcha)
I like Dragonball very much because I read it when I was child, so when I got to audition I begged the director to “Please give me any small part, like a man carrying sandbags behind the screen.” (laugh) Furthermore, there is Chow Yun-Fat who is my hero from when I was child. This is a dream role for me

i wonder when well see a real dragon ball on the posters. All weve seen are 2d dragonballs pasted on a photoshoped poster. So weve seen master roshi as a perv (check) bulma on a bike (check) goku in his gi (check) hmmm, it seems weve seen everything so far….. NO! WAIT! Picoolo is still missing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These pictures really excite me. The blue gi is a throwback to Goku’s blue gi in Dragonball at the beginning and hopefully will be a training uniform. The Roshi picture sells it for me mostly because of the pervy t-shirt which tells me this movie will be rated PG-13.

Glad they didnt go with bright orange clothes because that wouldve looked stupid in live action.
They seem to actually know what theyre doing with this adaptation, changing just enough stuff to make sense.
Dont you all find it hilarious when people say “they look nothing like DB characters”. NO SHIT! Who the hell has eyes half the size of their face? If a real person looked like Goku he’d be working as afreak in a circus! WHat works in cartoon doesnt in real lfe!
And also “they did the hair wrong”. LOL. Some people actually wanted him to have some huge vertical spikes on one side, then a little flat part on top, and some more spikes on the other side? Get real… haters are losers
This movie could have turned out so bad, but they’re making all the right decisions with the look of the people and everything. So far theres no reason at all to even assume that it might suck.

ok i understand whats happening in that first picture. I think it is going to start out like the anime with bukma looking for a dragonball, and she breaks in to grandpa gohans house trying to find it and then she runs into goku and trys to shoot him but it does not affect him at all. Im pretty much posiitive that isd whats going to happen.
But these pictures are bad ass! Chatwin makes a great goku. I have alot of faith in him.

I was about to say, steven, this is probably the Gi they use throughout the majority of the movie, until they get to the final battle between
and :mrgreen:, in which they will give him his trademark orange Gi.
Also, cmarlson, We did see a pic of Goku at Bulma’s gunpoint with kids in the background of a building that looked like it could be the same one as that pic, so I think it’s gonna happen at Goku’s school. Other than that, I was thinking the same thing. Then after that, they go to Gohan’s house to find Gohan dead and either the Dragonball is gone, or they take the Dragonball, Gohan tells him to find the turtle hermit and the Dragonballs before Piccolo does, and they set out on their journey. I think Yamcha’s scene is going to be fundamentally the same as in the show, where he tries to take the Dragonball in this version, but Goku defeats him. Maybe he’ll even still have the “weak knees” when it comes to girls. They have a battle with the Fullum Assassins after Goku and Yamcha fight, and when they win, they all set out to find Master Roshi. They encounter some stuff on their journey, but they end up finding him, who accepts training them among his other students at the Dragon Temple. There, he tells Goku about how his sensei sealed Piccolo, sacrificing his life or something. Then the day of the tournament arrives, and we see all of the battles like Mai vs. Chi Chi. Hell, maybe they’ll have Nham (Or any alteration of Nham) fighting Goku in the first round. That’s about as far as I’ve gotten to, and it’ll probably be better and more developed then that, but that’s my assumption of the basic plot. Though, I bet almost everyone who’s been following this blog knows that the final battle will probably take place in or around a volcano.

At first i was skeptical about his hair, because in the first promo pics by that yellow futuristic car his hair seemed short, but now in the later pics his hair appears longer which i like.
On the notion of Muscle…eh, as all these die hard fans are telling me…his true muscle doesnt start to develop until the later stages of dragonball or dbz…so im not too concerned there. Hopefully he doesnt reveal his skinny physique though. One part of the cartoon that happened frequently is that during battle the chars would be practically nude by the end of the fight haha, just because of all the hits they were taking.

Haha, that video that Vegeta_DTX made is so lame. He’s such a coward, it’s nothing but text. I read a few complaints on the protest site about how the fact that Justin Chatwin isn’t buff means he can’t play Goku cause skinny people aren’t strong. WTF? Since when has muscles even mattered in the Dragonball world? Gohan was just a little kid when he headbutted the shit out of Raditz. Trunks powered up so much against Cell that his muscles were ridiculously huge and it ended up being his weakness. Frieza was the tiniest creature around and was the baddest motherfucker in the universe at one point. Enough with the “Chatwin isn’t buff enough” comments, seriously.

lol i just watched hardboiled and if chow yun-fat plays master roshi like that then it would be joke except every1 would get shot. pretty cool how the cast are loving the dragonball.

I must say I was very sceptic of Chatwin as Goku especially his talks about this “kid’s show”
The average db fan is in their late 30s.

Goku’s Blue outfit reminds me of those Dragonball-Episodes, when Pilaf burned away his Clothing in order to attack his weakspot(We all should know what), and Goku took the Clothes of the Anthropomorph-Ninja after that.
But didn’t they say “No anthrpomorphs”?
Well, now I’m kinda confused, as I really don’t like the Idea, that they might be making Humans of everyone(remembering that incredibly shitty Oolong from “The Magic Begins”, damn only Roshi was awesome in that).

I think based on those photos and others, I think this is where Bulma shoots Chatwin. Not sure why. However, Chatwin and Roshi look worried, maybe Chatwin was trying to find him and when he did, the Fullum Assassins tracked him down and there they try to make their escape. Bulma is probably there because she was tracking the Dragon Balls, one of which Chatwin has.
Just speculation on my part.

I find it interesting how you reference everyone else by their character name, but when referring to Goku, you say “Chatwin.”
Not trying to single you out or anything,just an observation. I’ve been noticing comments abroad, similiar to that. I’m wondering if there are still some subconscious reservations about Justin Chatwin playing Goku.

I think this movie is gonna be unreal, and you guys bloggin is pretty awesome and supportive.
Also for a comment about Goku’s hair and bangs, maybe the reason its so short is because, their planning on making his hair longer, and give him bangs for a sequel when he turns into a super saiyan for the first time. If they used all their best ideas for this movie, they probably wouldn’t have much to work with.
