I must say, after a long, stressful day, it is nice to come home and see something like this. I think he looks phenomenal. I don’t care that his pants are blue, I’m sure the first thing thye tried was all orange, and maybe it didn’t look right…who knows. And with the “cha-la head cha-la” in the background it really makes it feel realistic, almost surreal. This is wonderful way to end the day. Huge thanks to JP and Kran.

The pants are called Hakama, and are traditional Japanese clothing. They were originally worn by Samurai.

lol was about to post a comment about the Hakama, but jp beat me to it. It gives his gi a more ancient tru to life japanese feel. The gi is extremely well designed its just the color scheme that is kind of strange but his gi is orange so in order to stay tru, the colors must be kept. ill have to see more and how it plays out.

There is a version of this gi that has orange pants — there are pictures of Chatwin’s stunt double floating around out there in which he’s wearing them.
Rumor is the outfit he’s wearing there is a mix of his original (blue) gi, and the orange gi he gets while training Master Roshi.

Goku wasn’t really that muscular yet when he fought Piccolo anyway. At least not as much as he will become later. So that’s fine, he’ll be bigger in the sequel, which is how it should be.
One thing I’ve been thinking about. Since I live in Japan (and no I’m not Japanese), I’m realy glad this is coming out in March here. I’m still waiting for Hulk and Ironman for crying out loud! Not to mention other stuff like Wall-E which will only come out in December. But I disgress.
My point is, although that’s awesome for me, I’m wondering if Fox isnt shooting itself in the foot by doing that? I mean, aren’t a lot of people gonna download it before it comes out in the US? I dont think I could resist it.. although since it’ll be awesome I’d probably see it in theaters anyway
Well, im just glad I dont have this dilema, but I’m wondering about the US box office. I really want this to do well so that we can get the Saiyan and Freeza sagas too.

The Gi looks great. Finally we get a proper pictuers from Justin wearing it. That’s the kind of pictures they have to use as promotion, not the ones where he’s wearing just a regular shirt.
But I’m still botheres with the Dragonball. It’s still a little too big, if you ask me. And why the f is it glowing? Dragonballs don’t glow.

The Dragonballs glow with the light of the stars inside. It said so on the first episode/chapter of the manga. And it looks about the right size, they weren’t that small in the series.

Uggh…he’s such a wimp that they had to make the gi huge to try and cover up his wimpiness. And what’s with the sideburns? I don’t remember Goku having sideburns. They also messed up the belt and wrist straps. They look like they’re made out of some kind of inflexible plastic material…not conducive to fighting. Notice the Dragon Ball looks different as well. Yellow stars instead of red ones give it a westernized, sci-fi look for some reason, which is not a good thing in this case.

This poster didn’t do much with promoting the movie in Japan.
An overwhelming majority of the Japanese are still throwing protests and boycotts against it, and more are expected to join them.

And yes this is doing very well in Japan it was on the news (just like batman is on the new here in America) and has a lot more promotion. Also about the anime geeks who want the movie to look and be as close to the anime as possible, but they don’t just don’t understand that it would mess up the movie and make it too weird.
Complaining about the hair yea right try and get that as close to the anime as possible. Krillin missing from the movie, so what? (like they’re gonna put in a real guy with no nose in it) how freaky? Adding a new character in the movie ‘who the **** is Teto? Duh.. new character. So what if it’s based in a high school, I don’t want to watch a movie about some unemployed bum flying around for 1 and 1/2 hours.
If you want to have it the way you geeks want it go rent a old Japanese version of dragonball played by real people. I’m sick and tired of listening to you freaks nagging about the movie.

Someone mentioned the purple aura around the dragonball earlier. Take a closer look at it! I magnified the picture and it looks almost like piccolo’s head is outlined in this aura! His eye seems to be just to the right of the dragonball, and you can see his cheekbones and one ear pretty clearly; the top of his head even looks to be the right round shape!

Well I just go out of watching the dark knight and well…..IT WAS AWESOME. I know dragon ball will probably not be that good, but I did see a trailer for the watchmen and I hope the visuals and action scenes are at least or around that good for DB.

Uh even they got krillin i bet the guy got a nose… and in the anime you just have to imagine it…
Also the complains are anoying yet people acting like all anime looks like white people is also anoying… I said this before i said it again… If Japan Was making this movie do you realy think they are gonna hire a american?
and why not i mean the special fx from Japan are becoming more better these days…

They pushed it back a year to get it right. Does it even matter they’re trying to get minute details right in order to PRESERVE the spirit of dragonball? No, what you ppl wanna see is a complete re-run of things you may have 20 times, you just think it’ll be awesome if a live person was doing it.
I’m up to a fresh start for the dragonball series, and if this is it, then so be it, can’t be right all the time. I just aint into watching what i’ve seen since i was a child over again and again. SO shut up quit whining and enjoy because when you have kids this is something to go along with the folklore that is Dragonball.

Regarding the boycotts, I think Hinkle and those who doubt its existence should try searching the Japanese words for “Dragonball” and “boycott”
And besides, try going to 2ch.net or some other major Japanese bbs, and I’m sure you’ll have a hard time trying to find someone who supports this movie
