Dragonball To Hit March? Update: Mistranslation

Craig at SHH Forums came across the following article:
Anime News Network  translated the text featured on the recent Dragonball Japanese poster, and here is what it says:

Just as in the previous teaser poster, the new poster’s Japanese text reads when translated: “The legend comes to life.” The new poster also adds the following text: “Opens worldwide at maximum speed on March 13, 2009.”

Worldwide? Previous reports indicated that the US release for Dragonball would be April 10th, 2009. Has Fox bumped up the release date? According to Box Office Mojo, the only other movies being released on March 13th are Paramount’s The Lovely Bones and Buena Vista’s Race To Witch Mountain. Warner Brother’s adaptation of Watchmen is being released the week prior. 

Stay tuned for more updates on the release date. 

Update: Looks like it was just a mistranslation on ANN part. The US/Canadian release date it still 4-10-09.

    I saw Dark Knight yesterday and it was so great!!!!….Man, I wish Dragonball was going to be that good, that would be the best. Heath gave the best villin in any type of movie.Can you amajin if Marsters or who ever play’s Vegeta gave that type of performance!….. And it was long too/ I think Dragonball should be around the same amount of time. But March would be cool. The sooner the better!!

    Hmm I hope it is but I think there is some mistake in the article.

    Maybe the author got very excited and that is why said worldwide :x

    well it looks like the dark knight has officially crushed every record there is (basically, not literally) according to wikipedia. Now its Dragon Ball turn to shatter these records again ( hey, I can be a little optimistic can’t I?).

    i hope im wrong, i think its crazy to release the movie nearly one month before in one country than the rest of the world, a week is ok, 2 weeks maybe acceptable, not a month

    it is very stupid to release something a week later in an other country, The Dark Knight is going premiere Thursday in the Netherlands, thats where i live. But according to the older statistics of IMBD dragonball is released here earlier than USA and stuff. But now it saids World wide so… i guess that doenst make any difference. The sooner the better

    The translation is wrong!!! It means that Japan will release the movie faster than any other countries on March 13 2009.

    i think that it would be bad put it out quicker because it gives less time for the production team to make the move much better. plus it would have to compete with watchmen and that COULD blow dragonball out of the water.

    so i am more than happy to wait as long as we get more updates

    If you read the rest of the ANN article, it says:

    “Update: The second tagline can be translated as the following: ‘World’s earliest opening [in Japan] on March 13, 2009.’”

    So, nope, no March worldwide release. Still only Japan.

    STG you are right. Does piracy affect boxoffice a lot? Also if the Japanese don’t like the movie then that could affect our anticipation for the movie. I don’t know why the studio is doing this.

    It is ok I still will support this movie.

    everyone who knows a litle bit about DB should know that this movie will be the worst adaptation of the series…… shit, there is going to be “piccoro`s warriors” ….¿Gokuh in high school? damn…. i have no hope for this “adaptation”
