is it me, or are they just using the same pose and pasting new pics of Justin’s head on the same body…
I like the poster, Piccolo looks evil. Goku looks intense. Only complaint is the Dragonball logo being slanted kinda gives it a cheesy vibe. Maybe I’m just being to picky, but if it were just centered straight on the bottom it would give it a more serious vibe.
Hopefully this will get a PG-13 rating - I hope to God it does.
But just seeing Piccolo’s eyes like that gives us a really good idea of how he will look, act, and the evilness of his character in the film.

Only thing that has me worried, ever since I heard some people that worked on HellBoy are woking on this film has kinda got me nervous. The customer designs and character designs for HellBoy look very cheesy and cheap. They look like rejects from old Power Rangers episodes but spiced up just a tad.
Hope the character designs for Piccolo and other enemies turn out a bit better looking that from the HellBoy films…

In what way does that poster mimic Star Wars? For one thing it’s a quick Photoshop job as opposed to the frankly amazing artwork of Drew Struzan.
This Dragonball poster follows the “floating head” trend that began in the 1990s around the same time SCREAM was released in the cinema.
It’s not even in the same galaxy as the stuff done by Drew Struzan.

The only thing that concerns me is that pricipal photography was rushed, leaving no time for details, due to the first release date being in August 2008. Hope that JamesWong and his crew and with the 100 mil. budjet make a good movie, because Fox is only after the money and doesn´t concern about a good crew: actors, director…
I saw The One, written and Directed by James! The ideia is good, although, there are some terrible shots and a lot of slow-mo Matrix style scenes. Dragon Ball will have a lot of action, but it will not be like in the anime. But I think i won´t be like DOA!! One thing is for sure, they have an excelent music composer: Brian Tyler (AVP2, Rambo). He will deliver all the action in the movie just with the music. Be sure of that!

Goku was lean at the end of Dragonball. If you look at the shots with his shirt on (before it gets torn off by various attacks - a good scene is that just before the world tournament), he’s actually pretty skinny and young, when you think about it he is only just out of his teens. The thing about DB is when the shirts get torn off they suddenly become mega muscly. Since we havn’t seen a scene with Chatwin shirtless or in his ‘fighting mode’ i don’t think its the best idea to judge.
And yeah, Chi-Chi did look like any other woman. She’s super strong but she doesn’t look any different to anyone else. True, i wish they did the hair, but we’ll just have to live with it.
Roshi looks great, i think he’s probably one of the best casts. The hair works (this is my opinion), and we have to remember that in the end it wasnt the hair we loved but the personality, and i think he’ll deliver.
And why ask him why put Mai in at all, its not like we have any say in it. I agree its stupid but too bad

I hope this movie is not kids-based, because I think well-known companies are putting this all together. I think it’s good they didn’t fully adapt the physical appearances of the anime characters, because that will just be plain boring. Don’t expect too much before entering this movie. Just treat it as any other movie with a little twist.

1-Good casting does not mean the actor looks just like the character. A Roshi looking just like the manga/anime Roshi would be the worst idea in film history…
2-The movie is based off the Manga… not the Anime. Bulma has purple hair in the manga. She has more purple hair in the poster.
3-Marsters looks retarded
4-Strikes me as a-not finished product, or b-fake. Because it has no info on it. All other standalones at least have a date “the legend comes to life in 2009″

dbzm28, and so are all the dragonball z movies with the exeption of deadzone. All dragonball z movies are losely based on the dragonball universe and it is impossible to fit them anywhere in the dz timeline (I tried with all i have seen). So If this movie is loosely based on the dragonball universe I dont care, because it has been done before in the animated movies.

why can’t everyone just be positive for Dragonball’s sake. At least they’re bothering to try and bring it back to life. They could have just left it at GT (Which would have been crap) and that would be the end of it you know? yeah, i’m not particulary happy with a few things (like how Chichi looks) but at the end of the day i’m a die hard DB/Z fan and always will be so i’m chuffed to bits with the whole movie =]

I dont get what people mean when they say Chatwin’s lip is tight or his expression is wrong? he looks pretty in character to me!! hes supposed to be pretty scrawny and he does get angry and mad when he fights in Dragonball so dunno what everyone’s going on about.

Also, if you look really hard at the cleaned up version, you can definately see a lower mask of some sort under piccolo’s eyes
I wonder why they reused justin chatwins body from the other pic?

the lighting of Chatwin’s eyes make him look quite a bit like the singer from Greenday. Oh well. I still dig it. The only problem I have is that Piccolo’s eyes make it REALLY hard to determine how he’s going to actually look. I’m stumped.

db/z/gt is an ANIME. you cant expect all the characters to look exactly like the ones in the anime. just appreciate the fact that their finally makin a movie!

does anyone relize that the reason its “just picture we have already seen put together” IS because THAT WHAT THEY DO. when the a a photo shot for promo shot and picture they use the photos for promo shots and picture including posters it not a huge asumption that the photo we have seen were just a large amount of photos taken to be use for the poster but didnt make the cute so what did they do used it for more promo pictures. So of course the picture are going to be alike if they didn’t then i would worry a little. But seriously all promo shot look almost alike for any movie Gi joe Transformers batman 1, 2, 3,begins, darkknight, spiderman 1, 2, 3……ETC.

I guess I was wrong, it appears to be real. It looks like they didnt put much thought into the first poster though. Alot of pictures we have already seen. Its not bad though. The picollo eyes are pretty sweet. (that is new)

they could actually dude. If anyones playing a dragonball video game in the dragonball movie…it could be bad. “Merchandising Merchandising Spaceballs The Video Game, Spaceballs The Lunch Box, Spaceballs The Flame Thrower…etc. lol. I ave faith Jim Changed that in the script so im not sweatin it, all im saying is if that aspect is in the movie it would be bad.

Im one person who still thinks the script is real. Christina Inman only said that this was not the script that was used in the movie…she never said it wasn’t an early draft. I just refuse to believe there is some fan boy out there with that little of a life…. When did we first hear of the plans to make this movie like 2002 03? This could be an early script….just please no DB legend or anything like that

Christina Inman has said alot of things were’nt real when they really were. The first original poster for example.
I also believed the script was real. I just dont htink they would include Dragonball cards in the film. C’mon Yhugiho cards went out of fashion 5 years ago, around the same time this script was drafted.
Times change and I also believe that a bit of fan feedback has swayed 20th century FOX to look at changes to the script.
They are not going to give Jim 100M dollars to go out and make power rangers. They will expect the highest of quality off him.
I have total faith in this film even if alot of you dont.

Evan Almighty had a budget of $175 million and and advertising brought the budget up to $200 million. That movie SUCKED. Spider-Man 3 had a bigger budget than DB and it also sucked in my opinion.
A big budget doesn’t make a good movie, Holmination.

no shit…u could spend up to 1 billion dollars on a movie and it will still suck…in order for it to be considered “worthy”, is a good script, acting, and special effects. Which is a no brainier. SM3 only brought 1 of those to life…which was special effects, acting was a 7/10, story…well, lets just say choose a number between 1-3.
I really hope DB does really well, if it pulls another Mortal Combat, then, roflz @ the director.
