Well, it does say “Anticipated Rating” so it may not be PG, it all depends on what the raters think really (most of them are parents Xp) and if it seems slightly violent it’ll be PG-13. Which it HAS to be slightly violent. HAS TO!!!!

OMG! I was so looking forward to this. In the rough draft there was cursing, no wonder they rewrote it. PG???? wth. Look Even the video games are T for teen lol. I dont expect R, but Pg 13 at the least. I mean look, do you want to settle for mediocre aura blasts. There is Action up the butt in this film. Even transformers was pg-13 and that attracted little kids. Mortal Kombat too. Theres no way lol.
And i agree with the guy above me. The last harry potters attracting 5 year olds were PG-13, and there should be 100 times the action in Dragonball.

listen people, it says ANTICIPATED RATING. The movie does not come out for another 9 months. They havent even put together a teaser yet. i’m liking the asian flavor of this particular piece of marketing. I think that’s what they’re going for, with the original “fake” teaser poster and everything else official we’ve seen thus far. Some people might see it as cheesy or campy looking ( like something out of power rangers ), but that’s generally how advertising looks in japan. Watch some japanese comercials, or check out some japanese movie posters and you’ll see what I’m talking about. They’re obviously aware of the fact that this movie has the potential to do huge buisness in japan- like, highest grossing movie in japanses history- levels of potensial. So it would make sense that they’re doing all they can to appeal to the japanese market. Maybe once marketing shifts its focus over to western audiances we’ll see posters and other things that appeal more to our general tastes.

First of all there are not 500 episodes. 296 is the number that I think that were made, and thats not including the movies witch would make it like 320. 500 is not even close. So they obviously fail at promotion. There are actually 519 regular chapters and one bonus chapter were published through the manga. So maybe they meant the actual manga, but if thats the case then why would they say “Animated television episodes” and not manga chapters?
Second, PG? What the fuck. heason is absolutely right http://youtube.com/watch?v=Y5YgHX3s_ss&fmt=18 This is DragonBall/Z and you just cant change it in those terms of violence.
Third, 6-12, to teens? If I had a gun I would shoot whoever made that decision. No, absolutely no kid is going to know prior what DragonBall/Z is. And will attract a lot of idiot noobs for the series. I myself am 15 and remember watching the first episode to ever come to America on Toonami on the very day and never ever missing a day without DragonBall/Z, in a way they might be right and in a BIG way they are wrong. I DO NOT want little kids kicking the back of my fucking chair as I watch the film. (Already happened when I went to see Hulk)
Fourth, I agree with JP. They misspelled Marsters. Witch makes me think that this entire thing is full of crap info. Who would have this information anyways?
Fifth, there are 25 DragonBall/Z video games http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dragon_Ball_video_games
Not really includeing the jump super star franchise. Making it 23. But lets not get critical and give then the benaf- not get your facts straight.
Sixth, there are 13 DragonBall/Z features, not “17″. But that really depends on how they use the word feature. If they include all of the OVA’s/specials like Dragon Ball Z Special 1: The Father of Goku makes it 21 and that proves that they were just finger spamming when they typed this up because there are 5 OVA’s/ Specials and 13 movies in DragonBall Z and 3 movies in DragonBall. So are they trying to forget purposely about 4 movies or specials? FAIL.
Thats my 2 cents in on this fuckup. Tell me what you think.

ok… I knew this was going to happen as soon as I heard about the action figures and video game being made for this movie. I knew this was going to be a kids movie. Im really dissapointed that the DRAGONBALL live action move is going to be a PG movie. 6-12!!! Im 16! I wanna see some good humor and hard core ass kickin! If the anime had a movie rating it would be PG-13. This is going to be like that disney movie “sky high”.. Corny…cheesy… or speed racer, which i thought was gonna be bad ass…. and then i saw it was PG and it bombed, i hated it. I’m not to worried, they are spending over 100MM on this so I think there target audience will be higher than stated here. Most fighting style films are aimed at males 18-25, so I would expect a PG-13 in the US and an M rating here in Australia.

I doubt it’s going to be PG if these guys think there are only 14 dragonball video games. there are 75, i went through and counted them all. There were 58 released in America including Dragon Power (The American re-modled version of Dragonball to the Nes before the show had liscening rights in the US), which is still more than 14. It did say 6-12 years old, Teens, so calm down. I think that there is still going to be a PG-13, and if not, they are going to slap that rating on there for a wider audience. Speed Racer did that and their mouths made it sound more like a PG-13 movie with all their talk of “Ass” and “Shit”

Hopefully it won’t be PG-13, I mean, Goku for one thing is gonna die in the next movie and in PG movie you don’t wanna kill the main character (I read that a bunch of mothers freaked out when Leslie died in Bridge to Tarabithia cus their kids started to cry XD)
Then of course there WILL be fighting as confirmed by Marsters.
And from what I’ve looked up NONE I repeat NONE of James Wong’s movies has been under PG-13, I dunno why he would start now. Not to mention being a fan of Dragonball.

Yea. I mean Pervy old men, gun battles, super strength and aura blasts just call out Pg-13. See how many fans are upset by the PG rating, and to think theyre trying to attract more people. A pG-13 rating would just do that, wouldnt it? Yes a Pg movie means that the movie is more suitable to a larger range of audience, but the real fans and people with money tend to be older. So theyd be losing money, i think, with a PG rating. And i believe if the anime stayed true and turned live action, then itd be like R for all that action haha.

Guys…stop freaking out. I don’t care what that thing says, until I get an official rating from Fox or the MPAA, I’m going to assume thats not for certain. How many times have we seen a trailer for a movie and at end it says, “This movie has not yet been rated.” And we don’t even have a trailer yet, thus it’s too early in the process to determine something like that. The film is not even done, thus it has yet to be screened or officially rated. Let’s just remain positive unless given reason to not be.

A PG-rated motion picture should be investigated by parents before they let their younger children attend. The PG rating indicates, in the view of the Rating Board, that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, and parents should make that decision.
The more mature themes in some PG-rated motion pictures may call for parental guidance. There may be some profanity and some depictions of violence or brief nudity. But these elements are not deemed so intense as to require that parents be strongly cautioned beyond the suggestion of parental guidance. There is no drug use content in a PG-rated motion picture.
So, basically it can still have violence, profanity, and nudity, just not huge amounts of it. It’d pretty much be like the edited American version of the anime, which wasn’t bad. And if you’re right about the Star Wars movies then there nothing to worry about. Those movies had a lot of fighting in them.

You guys and gals do realize that 6-12 target is for the licensing, you do realize that, right? You know toys, cereal, school supplies, books,etc. And is not the target for the movie?
The rating is wrong, in today’s society(unless you’re in Canada, where movies PG-13, like Transformers, get bumped down to PG) any thing with a gun = PG-13 unless it’s a cute bunny rabbit stylized gun held by a child.
As well, I’m certain to God that all the combined games and DVDs have sold well over 4 million. 5 out of the 8 PS2 games have become Greatest Hits, which means they’ve sold over 1 Million copies worldwide(BT 3, and Burst Limit have yet to be seen), so that alone is 5 Million. Add that with the all the other games. Plus FUNimation’s record breaking season sets(best selling anime release in history) as well as the DragonBox/Singles, I’m sure we have over 10 Million sold, if not much more.

Lil off topic guys but, while watchin “War of the Worlds” recently, I noticed there is an emperor Pilaf toy right next to Chatwins bed, on the shelf of his dresser thingy…lol…I just thought that was pretty kool. Check it out!…if you’ve got the movie and have nothin better to do ofcourse!

Hey, Told You, I like how your assumptions are based on very little information. So little, in fact, that only true fans aren’t jumping to conclusions about something they haven’t even seen a trailer for yet.
Yes, GT sucked, but FOX is not TOEI trying to make an extra buck off of something Akira Toriyama wanted to end. It’s an adaptation, and that’s all it holds to the series. It can’t ruin what we all know and love to be Dragonball. If it does for you then you have my pity. If it sucks then ignore it, like I did with GT.

fox.licensing@fox.com if you want to e-mail ‘em. But keep in mind, the licensing is for the toys, products, etc, not the actual movie.
You gotta find a different e-mail to complain about the anticipated rating though (or continue to bitch a lot on here until Fox notices). I really hope they don’t try to make this a kid’s movie. That would prove they are completely ignoring the DB fan base. Not a good move, so it will probably end up PG-13 with lots of intense action sequences and visual effects. Hopefully plenty of slapstick humor too. Just like the good ole Dragon Ball we all know so well.
By the way, JP you said something about a MySpace profile. Do you update DB info on there also? URL? Private/Public?

the fellowship of the ring was a pg and two orcs got decapitated and many lost limbs. and in star wars episode one darth maul got cut inn half, I’m sure it will meet the the demands of the fans otherwise there wold be no-reason for making the film…I mean thats the only reason fox is making this movie becase of the world wide fan base.

Looks like utter shit, for those who think differently you really must have low standards…I had a complete different vision of how these characters would look…And they look like the complete opposite.And Justin DOES look like Frodo or maybe even a member from Green day…And why does he have sideburns!? not to mention the terrible modern day cheesy looking clothes….anyways, Being the artist that I am, I can’t help but laugh at how terrible this looks so far. Remember, DBZ is fantasy, where as this movie looks like its set in the modern day…And there’s no KRILLAN!
But ya, If there is anything ‘positive’ to say, is that Emmy makes a great bulma, but they still should of made her hair all Blue, it would of looked geat. Everything else….YIKES!
