IMDB made a (small) update on the Dragonball crew and revealed yet another Visual Effects house working on the film. We already know that Zoic and Hybride have been working on Dragonball, and now CAFE FX can be added to that list.
According to IMDB, Alp Altiner is the Visual FX art director for Cafe FX. Altiner has previously worked on X-Men: The Last Stand, Superman Returns, 300 and Speed Racer.

its kind of hard to imagine fox not highly dependding on this film to be success hearing wat kind of people are working on it. I can’t wait for jus a taste of wat kind of movie this will be, it don’t even have to be a trailer jus a picture that shows the type tone there leading towards. Will it be some giant eye candy like speed racer or will it be the subtle unique atmosphere of 300.

I find it interesting that so many visual effect teams are working on this particualar project, dragonball. this mean that the 100 million buget (imdb) is mostly being used on effects not the big name actors. this will make the movie all the more pleasing to watch.

I think this is very good news, The images turned out to be semi good, but we all know that the special affects will blow us away. Each of these movies have What Dragonball has for example X-men-Energy attacks, Superman-Flight, 300-Outstanding scenery, etc. I look even more forward to this movie now that I have an idea on how the Special effects will look. Also means it will most likly “NOT” be released to DVD first.

I know it wouldn’t happen but for those of you who saw speed racer you might agree. I hope this movie is EXACTLY LIKE SPEEDRACER!! that movie was a manga translated perfectly on to the screen! They didn’t cut any characters they weren’t afraid to use the exact plot from the show and they kept all the comedy and cheese and it was BRILLIANT!! I know it’s to late now based on what we’ve seen and now we know this movies going for a more serious approach and I’m still super stoked to see it… but a teen can dream right?

Ahah. If the chi and the dragon are anything at all like Speed Racer, we’re gonna have some seizures on our hands. XD Cripes. I about got a cavity watching it on my computer, I can’t imagine what it was like on the big screen. Personally I am hoping for a good mix of 300/Speed effects. Not too many crazy colors, but enough of them to be effective.
PLUS I HAVE TO USE THIS PICCOLO EMOTICON. It’s so cute. I adore it.

not that I didn’t enjoy them, but with the bad rep that Speed Racer got, I guarentee it’d be another “OMG THIS MOVIE’S GONNA BLOW JUST LYKE SPEED RACERZ” deal. The only reason I don’t think it’d work for Dragonball is because of the insanely foreign world that dragonball is in. I’d much rather have the realistic approach than a half-cartoon version that stuck directly to the original. That’s what I’ve been waiting 6 years for. That’s exactly what I want to see. Other people’s opinions may vary. I’m just saying what I want to see.

I Hope the the special effects that they do use does not make look like Speed racer because then it will be goofy and PG. I want this movie to be rated at least PG-13. R would be the best.

Haha…I wouldn’t mind the slow motion punch…one time only. And if they’re spinning around at the same time, as in The Matrix. But it’s definitely overdone at this point!
What will the critics say…? I’m hoping it gets amazing reviews like Iron Man, because that means it’s an incredible film- for fans and non fans alike!

Speed Racer Rocked it was really good. I have to say go see it for your selves and to not listen to the Critics Because they are the only ones who say its bad pretty much. Because everyone i have talked to that has seen it has said “Oh the movie was really good.” and the other are like “meh its ok” but the only ones that dont like it are the Critics. So i say go and see it for your self and make youtr own choice

Corey is kind of strange, but a very positive and seemingly nice guy. I want to hate him, but I cant. There may be some child locked in his basement, but from what I see he seems ok. Still too enthusiastic, and shouldnt post so much. Nobody should post that much. Thats some good life advice brother, I dont mean any harm. JP is too sensitive. I come here all the time and enjoy your site, but youre whiny like a girl. Tone it down a bit, man. Youre way too defensive which gives people more firepower. Learn how to take an attack. Let it go. I think it may be too early to really state any kind of comment about this movie…wether its gonna suck or rock…we’ve seen a few pics…thats it…not enough to make any kind of judgement on. Id like to say its gonna rock but look at Water World…like 220 million dollar movie that bombed like hell. Im just waiting for the teaser. This will give us more of a hint on the movies tone. But there is one thing most of us can agree on…THEY MADE THE MOVIE!

Nah, go for it! blog wars. I like a little tension, keeps you on your toes during these boring times before the big news comes, trailers etc. And I think it’s interesting how chatwin compares Goku to Luke Skywalker; indirectly comparing himself to the great Mark Hamill and this movie to the original star wars. Goku’s more like Rocky Balboa meets superman to me, but his comparison’s still legit because Goku’s also mentored by a wise old hermit and teams up with characters similar to han and leia, and he’s also a simple good natured hero. I hope they don’t draw too much from star wars though since Dragon Ball’s very different, more focused on a mix of comedy and intense action than politics and family ties although that comes along in the saiyan and frieza sagas. Damn I know way too much about this stuff.
