VFX Confirmation?
We’ve never really had word on who would be handling the visual effect for Dragonball. We know that Ariel Velasco-Shaw is the VFX supervisor, and we know that Image Engine and Ollin Studio were doing pre-visualization work. Well, now it seems we have confirmation that Zoic Studios (Van Helsing, The day After Tomorrow, Spider-Man 2) is working on the film.
Check out a reel of there work here.

The only thing I really hated about spiderman 2 was the VFX
May 10th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
I didn’t think spiderman was bad, I thought the VFX was good it still made a hell of a lot of money, and thats what Dragonball needs to do, make a lot of money.

Well the only movie I’ve seem outta those 3 is Spiderman which doesn’t exactly have energy blasts going off everywhere. Although the sun thing Doc Oc created looked pretty cool, almost like a real sun.
I hope the effects if DB will be just as good if not better cuz this is 6 years later
May 10th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
ok im confused i thought hybride was doing the visual effects
May 10th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
i watched spiderman 2 the other day and wen doc oc made that sun thing i was thinking ‘ i hope the energy blasts are animated a bit like that just different colours or something’ lol im pretty chuft with that news.

Just got back from seeing Iron Man! If Dragonball is anything like that, they should have no problem on money for the Next Dragonball
May 10th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
I don’t get it. What exactly do they do?
May 10th, 2008 at 7:08 pm
All i gotta say is that this is f’n awesome and i have complete faith in everything they’re doing. Wong knows that doing this movie holds a lot of responsibility and he’s not gonna go and mess it up. ever wonder why its gonna take till next april.
Dragonball rocks my face off!!!!!!!!!!!!!

looks good but i am dissapointed with the comments on comingsoon.net and several other websites that have posted this pic. Everyone is complaining and saying justin should be buffed up and that it should have been played by an asian.
Very dissapointed. Hopefully the movie makes good money and we can get a sequel but with so much negativity surrounding the project i think it will be hard for it to make money. Infact from what I am hearing this movie has the most negative buzz of all the movies fox has ever done.
Also those expecting master roshi like the cartoon will be dissapointed. He won’t be pervert and he won’t have moustache and beard.

I agree with DBiscool. People are so negative about everything instead of being a true DB fan and getting into the spirit of things. DB is so dead right now and this is what it needs to bring it back to life! So what its a little different, everything needs change, sometimes for the better!!
I think a lot of these ‘haters’ are gonna be suprised at how good this movie is going to be in the end. I’m for it and i’m well happy they even bothered to make an adaption. =] LONG LIVE DRAGONBALL!
Oh and i reckon Zoic studios rock =p Spireman 2 = <3

2009 VFX is gonna KICK SO MUCH BUTT WITH ALL THESE COMPANIES WORKING ON DB’s VISUAL EFFECTS!!!!

James Wong is getting the best of everything to do a very good movie, Im glad that he is the director. Last night I had a nightmare and it was abour Uwe Boll directing Dragonball and it ended like the worst movie of the history.

Meh, I would have prefered WETA(Lord Of The Rings, Fantastic Four, King Kong, etc.) or ILM(Star Wars, Transformers, War Of The Worlds, etc.). But hey, atleast it isn’t some complete unknown.

does any body no when dragon ball burst limit is coming out?
May 12th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
I believe Burst Limit comes out either June 5, or June 10, one release date is for Japan, the other is for North America. Although, which date, I forgot. Also, apparently is you pre-order the game at EB Games/GameStop before the 31st of this month, you get a free t-shirt on launch(I think?), and depending on your version, you get either a Disc of the first few episodes of DBZ(XBOX 360), or a BluRay disc of Movie 1, Dead Zone, with the PS3 copy. Don’t believe this offer is valid in Canada though, which sucks majorly.

The special FX better be gud. nothing else in the movie is. Though Wong has changed it enough, the Kamehameha will probably be a punch or sumthin.

Howdy Guru, what entice you to post an article on VFX Confirmation?? This article was extremely interesting, especially since I was searching for thoughts on this subject last Saturday.
