New Marsters Video!
Thanks to reader Spikesgurl, we have a new video of Marsters talking about Piccolo. This guy is so passionate about this role it’s astounding!
Also, I went to Comic Con today and it was pretty awesome. I got the chance to talk to Sean Schemmel for a few minutes. I asked him if he was following the movie and he gave me an interesting reply:
“I’m trying not to [follow it] because it annoys me.”

Hey…not to say anything bad but…seems like whenever James says something about the movie…it ends up here as a text thing…like from a website source…and then a week later we see the video saying the same thing…its kind of repetitive and annoying…id rather not hear/read the same thing twice
April 19th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Sean Schemmel is a dumbass XD
And James Marsters kicks ass! He’s the man that will save us from the evil doings of Fox XD
April 19th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Oh hell no. Sean Schemmel is amazing.
April 19th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Marsters is the bomb, he’s great on Smallville and is going to be even better on Dragonball.
P.S. Whats with the Sean quote? Somebody explain this to me!!!
April 19th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Wow you went to comic con? If I’d know you’d be there, I would have gone. Nothing but a train away… Anyway weird quote from Sean. He knows dragonball inside and out. Maybe he’s more annoyed by the potential for spoiling the movie? Hates Chatwin? What’s the deal there? Goku’s supposed to be happy
April 19th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
Nice video from Marsters. Always glad to see and hear how excited he is.
And Mr. Schemmel’s a pretty good voice actor, but he seems a bit conceited to me. He doesn’t want to go back and re-record any of his old, inaccurate Goku lines because he thinks they’re epic and artsy or something. :/
April 19th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Sean is pissed because it is not a CGI movie, and he will not be the voice of Goku. He thinks CGI would have been more appropriate for the movie. He is kind of skeptical about the movie, even though he is not involved in production what so ever, he really has no idea what is going on, or how it looks.
But if your Goku for years, and then they say, “Bye, we need Chatwin” he has reason to be pissy I guess. I say get over it.
April 19th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
WOO-HOO Marsters in the MAN!! He is definitely an actor I’ll remember for a LONG time!!
April 19th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Boooo, Schemmel thinks too highly of himself! And wat Kaboom said about him is so true
April 19th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Whoa go Marsters. I am very dissapointed in Sean
he should be more supportive of this movie it’ll spark interest in the anime. Either way I though he was cool but maybe I was wrong
April 19th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Sean Schemmel really comes off a bit hotty about the whole thing. Does it annoy him someone else might be recognized as Goku? ARGGGGG! anywho even though weve heard it before, any news is well wanted. Go Marsters
April 19th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
I thought Sean didn’t re-record his lines because he’s not a part of Funi anymore? (He works for 4kids now, I think.) Anyway, he doesn’t sound too much different than a ton of other DBZ fans I’ve heard talking crap about the movie. But then again, at least he didn’t do THAT, i.e. trash talking it before even seeing a freakin’ trailer. XD Hopefully the movie is good enough for people to quit complaining about, so they can just sit back and be entertained by a new version of DB.
ANYWAY. Yay James Marsters~ He didn’t say much than what we’ve already heard, except for the Piccolo being p.o.ed that he’s old and decrepit and then going on a killing spree thing. (Or at least I haven’t heard that bit before.) Sounds cool, muhahaha. . . .
April 19th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
sean schemmel was amazing in that ssj3 transformation
April 19th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
geez what a little bitch, he could at least pretend he was interested in it…
April 19th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Uh Oh, Master roshi made clones of himself… now bulma is in the middle of Roshi’s perverted clones…. WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT????
—-> this is were adam should put a vegeta smily to kick some roshi ass, save his girl and ……. create trunks wink wink
April 19th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Uh Oh, Master roshi made clones of himself… now bulma is in the middle of Roshi’s perverted clones…. WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT????

April 19th, 2008 at 11:31 pm
I only wish the rest of the cast were as dedicated as he was to keep their characters the same in appearance…. It seems like he’s really trying to save this on his end, but we’ll just have to see how everything plays out.
April 19th, 2008 at 11:41 pm
James Marsters totally rockssssssssssssssss!!!! I think James is going to show a darker yet more powerful side of King Piccolo
. He seems very dedicated to the role of Piccolo
. Im so happy, because he is willing to put his job on line just to make sure they stay true to the show. You can’t find many actors that’s willing to do that. The reason why it makes me happy is, because that lets me know he is dedicated to the project. Now I know dragonball is going to be so alwsome. Thanks James! You totally rock bro….
April 19th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
It’s basically the same information from before (as to him and Daimaou wanting to be older behind the producer’s back), but I love seeing the vid because you even more get the impression that he really does care about doing this right. There’s also the extra info here as to Daimaou’s motive, which is fantastic to hear.
I’ve been skeptical about a DB movie for the last five, six years, however long it’s been since the idea first floated around. But you know, I think this is gonna not-suck.
And as a side question. How do you upload an icon?
April 19th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
LOL, I’ve actually had the pleasure of meeting Sean Schemmel too, he’s actually a really nice guy, and awkwardly funny. Not as funny as Chris but I can totally picture him saying that
I bet he was serious but at the same time trying to make fun out of it…
April 19th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
this dude schemel is pathetic
he owes so much to dragonball, he should show a little respect and to the very least not make any comments unless they are positive ones
the only person who should have a right to complain about this movie is akira toriyama, and he probably would get in big trouble if he does complain
April 19th, 2008 at 11:59 pm
oh and james marsters is my new hero
no words to describe how grateful i am that he is a part of this movie
April 20th, 2008 at 12:01 am
Yeah, whoever hired him for the role deserves a big lobster dinner
April 20th, 2008 at 12:10 am
Oh yeah!! Who cares what Sean Schemmel says…. Dragonball is going to rock and watch him look stupid for saying that. He is just made, because Dragonball is the most anticipated movie of 2009. His opinion means nothing!!
Whoa JP got

You totally rock dude!!
Bulma
and
Master Roshi
Thank you so much JP!! I didn’t even have to ask
April 20th, 2008 at 12:29 am
lol that was funny Victor!! I don’t think we are ready for trunks yet. We are still in the King Piccolo saga!!
April 20th, 2008 at 1:01 am
All I can really say about that little “Dragonball” sketch Corey is………………….. your unique and quite creative. Keep up the good work
April 20th, 2008 at 1:31 am
they, should have put a cameo appearance in the film of Sean Schemmel and Chris Sabat. maybe at the world tournament, when goku is fighting somebody.
in goku’s voice while Chris would say “no! i don’t think he has a chance”
in vegeta’s voice, or something like that
Sean would be shouting “come on goku you can do this”
April 20th, 2008 at 1:52 am
Maybe goku’s jealous cause he didn’t get the role. hehe.
Seriously though, James Marsters you rule! xD
and JP thanks for the new smileys!!
April 20th, 2008 at 1:57 am
whoops i mean sean schemmal not goku
force of habbit, i guess.
April 20th, 2008 at 2:00 am
You here that everyone?
Bulma says she’s in love with me.
April 20th, 2008 at 4:11 am
Corey that made me lol. ^^
YAY for Marsters! Hopefully post-production will go smoothly… even he said it was heavily reliant on that. In regards to Schemmel, well, maybe he was slightly interested at first but because fans keep asking him about it he’s sick of it? He could be jealous of Chatwin but I doubt it, that would be a little immature, I think? Or maybe he just doesn’t like the idea of the movie like some of the fans. XDDD
Kaiser, I thought that was a cool idea! =D
Imagine going to the movie and you hear that Chatwin’s voice… is actually Schemmel’s. That would be really freaky. O_O
April 20th, 2008 at 5:50 am
Too bad I HAVE NO SOUND ON MY COMPUTER!!!!
April 20th, 2008 at 6:25 am
I feel like when you get an actor like marsters who is so into the role of piccolo that it will make the movie that much better. With the new changes to piccolo will make him better i can’t say but if the director will back him up then i agree
As for sean i just thinks he is pissed that a movie would not only ruin the old series but would potentialy kick him out of the goku voice.
April 20th, 2008 at 7:50 am
Dragonball fans are very hardcore and take the franchise seriously. Any changes and they just shit on it. It is expected.
I don’t expect dragonball to make much money due to fans being really really angry especially in Japan.
I look at it as an adaptation and so it doesn’t matter if it like the show or not. If it sucks we still have the cartoon shows which we can enjoy.
April 20th, 2008 at 8:28 am
that idea of havin sean and sabat as cameos doin their character voices durin a scene in the movie is pretty good, id like to see that
April 20th, 2008 at 8:29 am
God some people on this forum are so retarded.
I don’t think we should bash Schemmel on that, you don’t really know what he means when he says it annoys him. It could be the news that annoys him or it could be the fact that everyone hypes every bit of news we get from this movie.
Either way someone who’s been involved with the series so long might be a little offended to see it change so much, if that’s the case. It’s not like we ever did voices for these characters so we didn’t get a deep connection with them.
And Marsters is soo passionate that I’m so happy he got Piccolo.
April 20th, 2008 at 8:56 am
I’ll still argue that if sequels are made, I won’t get used to Sean Schemmel not voicing King Kai. If King Kai is CGI, they really ought to use Schemmel’s voice
April 20th, 2008 at 9:07 am
@AlexM
I completely agree. Schemmel had been Goku for such a long time, he understands this character and the changes being made Im sure are not impressing him. With that said, lets not freak out because he said he’s annoyed, Alex is right, it could be about anything, maybe he’s just really sour Krillin is gone, who knows.
Umm… Marsters rules. Though this was quoted before, its good to see the actual video. I love hearing this guy talk Dragonball. Cant wait till DVD release to check out all of Marsters behind-the-scenes moments.
April 20th, 2008 at 9:27 am
Corey Wilson…that little script with the emoticons u did…omg i was dieing of laughter!!! lol
April 20th, 2008 at 9:49 am
i dotn know what is worse teh stupid new look of picolo or this guy traying 2 tell fans that he is a good dragon ball fun this will suck and im sad
April 20th, 2008 at 10:53 am
I agree people shouldn’t be pissed at what he said, he will always be goku and when we hear the voice its going to be totally different and that goes for bulma too, goku and bulmas voices made them come alive. He is probely way worried I mean they cut out krillin and are adding random characters, he is just scared at what this movie is going to turn out like. Truthfully half of me is way excited and the other half is way worried cause there is potenial to mess this horribly up. And I believe he feels the same way.
April 20th, 2008 at 11:28 am
I feel the same way, my friend keeps telling me that the movie sounds like a “Really Bad AU fanfic” but I keep saying that I have faith in it , but I’m still worried that she may be right
April 20th, 2008 at 11:40 am
TO BE CONTINUED!! NEXT WEEK!
April 20th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
Ara, what sucks its stupid people like you. Thats what sucks.

April 20th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
You all do know that Krillin has not been verified out of the movie right? “70-80% of shots are post production…” just think about that… remember gollum?

April 20th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
I met him when he came to Australia. He is a top guy.
April 20th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
We all have to admit he was the best voice for Goku in Dragonball Z, the other guy sounded like he had a couple of dragonballs stuck up his nose
April 20th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
Glad i found this blog.. i’m a big fan of DB since i was in school. Just one thing, i hope this DB movie will reflect the toriyama’s manga.
April 20th, 2008 at 5:42 pm

I want to hear what Adam, Robert, and you have to say about all this news. Can we please have a Podcast!!!!
April 20th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
Hey JP why are you saying Sean Schemmel is amazing for saying….
“I’m trying not to follow it because it annoys me”
Wow!! He really sounds eager to see it.
I never heard of this guy and he is already giving me the wrong empression. Dragonball is going to freakin’ rock!!!! I hope Schemmel is not getting jealous, because there are so many people hyped to see it. I guess he’s made, because no one is talking about a Catwomen sequel.
April 20th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Because he is awesome…?
April 20th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
lol “Justin Chatwin,” in response to Krillin being CGI’d in the post-production, good assumption but unlikely. haha
Well theyve been secretive this far, who knows what surprises they can conjure.
April 20th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
Schemmel’s got a point. He is teh Goku after all.
April 20th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
@Corey Wilson;
So you say you’re a DB fan but you’ve never heard of Sean Schemmel?! He’s Goku. He does his voice for the show and videogames in the U.S. Like I said, he’s teh Goku, Chatwin’s got NOTHING on him. NOTHING!
April 20th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
J, u always agree with anyone that somethin negative to say towards the movie lol
Anyhow, Sean Schemmel is not “Awesome” in my opinion, but he is the best voice actor for Goku Ive ever heard.. Next to the japanese of course, no one can top Masako Nozawa’s Outstanding performances she gave to Dragonball.
April 20th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
I don’t think that Sean is upset or jealous about have a role or not in the DB movie. What I think he is upset about is the fact that they ARE making a movie, and they are ruining the originality of Dragonball by making it more Hollywood.
He portrayed the original Son Goku, the stupid backwater ape child. Whilst Hollywood here is creating some over the top stupid high school hotty Goku.
He probably doesn’t want to follow the movie cause he believes that they most likely are destroying something that is dear to heart to him. I mean, in a way he is the American Goku.
April 20th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
JP asked Sean is he following the movie? Sean’s response was
“I’m trying not to follow it because it annoys me.”
I mean how rude is that? The last time I remember JP owns a Dragonball movie website. JP and Adam has been following Dragonball more then anyone I know. So tell me this JP!!!! Does it annoy you to follow up on Dragonball for us????
I don’t think so!!
JP is excited just like the rest of us are! If he wasn’t he wouldn’t be posting any news.
April 20th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Hey JP, did Sean know you run the dragon ball movie blog?
April 20th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
So that proves Sean is wrong for saying that!!!!
He lost major points with me….
I think Sean was trying to send you a message JP!! He said he is not trying to follow it, because it annoys him. Aren’t you one of the fans that are following up on it JP???? Does it annoy you to follow up on Dragonball? Anyways I think that was a dumb comment Sean made. He is in the Dragonball franchise. He wouldn’t like anyone to say that about the show. So why is he saying that about the movie??
April 20th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
There are many people that believe in this movie!
If you want prove just ask James Marsters himself or I prefer Piccolo
Dragonball is going to rock hard!!!!
April 20th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
J why did you do that man?? Now the page looks all funny lol
April 20th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
You can delete my previous comment, JP. I didn’t think it’d make the page glitch like that. Sorry for the inconvenience.
April 20th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
April 20th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
hey u guys need to be respecting schemmel….
after all he was the voice of goku..the main character of dbz
April 21st, 2008 at 12:01 am
It’s hard to tell without having been there and hearing the quote in context, but I reckon Schemmel was being tongue-in-cheek. There’s no reason that this film should honestly annoy him — if there’s ever a need for a voice actor to play Goku, he’s likely to be it. They’re not going to suddenly ditch the Anime cast and replace them with the film cast (with the possible exception of a PS3/360 game based on the film, but that’s pretty much par for the course in film/game adaptations).
As far as changing the characters is concerned, I’m not all that bothered. It isn’t as though the animated shows and manga are just going to dry up and vanish because of the film, and it’s way too early to judge what the production team have done with the source material.
Ultimately, I just want to see a bad ass film based on Dragonball. It doesn’t have to be a panel-by-panel remake of this particular arc in order to make me happy.
April 21st, 2008 at 1:13 am
I didn’t think it would be that hard to figure out..
Did you guys forget that us who are excited/looking forward to this movie ae in the overwhelming MINORITY. Most fans hate what is being done to Dagonball. It’s obvious Sean feels the same way as those fans.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:25 am
Schemmel isn’t the only DB VA who doesn’t like the idea of the movie. I was talking to Kyle Hebert (DBZ Narrator, Post-pubescent Gohan) about it in early March and he said “I think it’ll be lame, but I can always hope for the best” and “live action anime just as a concept sounds doomed from the start”.
April 21st, 2008 at 2:29 am
Yeah but Sean’s very smart. Most of the people hating the movie are frankly dumb and just going with the crowd. All secretly hope it’s great. Wow, he really hates what they’re doing? He must know about the highschool stuff then. It’s understandable, but I didn’t xpect him to outright just blast it like that. Oh well…
April 21st, 2008 at 4:10 am
People are saying that Forbidden kingdom was really good far as fighting scene’s and their was some energy type blasts that I hered about they did during the moving and people are saying it was really good so this movie will give you an idea of how good Dragonball can really be and you know its going to be alot more then that movie so check it out I will.
April 21st, 2008 at 5:22 am
hmmm sean doesnt seem to happy about it though
April 21st, 2008 at 7:43 am
This guy is very passionate!! Just by watching this you know it will be a great movie!!!
April 21st, 2008 at 7:49 am
Ahhhh i want something new!!!
April 21st, 2008 at 8:06 am
He is a true piccolo, he needs 100000000000000 dollars for what was said in this videa.
April 21st, 2008 at 9:19 am
April 21st, 2008 at 11:03 am
You know, I can understand people being cautious — I sure am — but what I don’t get is the sort of Uber Fan who bangs on endlessly about how the production of a feature film will “doom the anime”. I’ve seen it across the web, and it’s actually a little startling.
There’s a certain — stunningly large — subsection of fans who don’t even seem to realize the film (and the Anime that they love so dearly) is based on a written source material. These people don’t realize that even the Anime managed to get things wrong when compared to the manga on which it is based.
April 21st, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Sorry, this is gonna be a long post, but i have a lot to say.
I don’t get why people are talking so bad about this movie anyway, I mean, you haven’t seen a trailer yet so how can they be so sure. Before I found this site I thought it was gonna be utter crap too, but after finding all this stuff out and really getting into it, i think it’ll look good.
People are just bashing it because they think all animated shows/anime were crap, correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Transformers make $707,675,744 worldwide in the box office? The X-men movies (made by Fox too) has made over 1.163 billion dollars with their movies.
Its not that Fox is trying to ruin Dragonball, they just want to appeal to other people. Lets face it, if the movie was EXACTLY like the anime, it would be a piece of shit, who wants to see a little boy with a tail fly around the world on a magical cloud? Sure some die-hard fans would wanna see it, I for one wouldn’t go near it.
What I said about appealing to others, here’s my example. When I was a kid, I DESPISED Speed Racer, I’d gag whenever my brother turned it on and I’d leave the room quickly. Now I’m looking at the live-action movie trailer, and honest truth, it looks just badass with the CGI and everything. I might even consider seeing it.
Now here’s another thing, may I remind you all, Spiderman has at least 5 different animated series that are all AU from each other. They’re all different in terms of when he got his powers, how old he was, who his friends were, etc. Well this is pretty much the same thing, its just another story to Dragonball that Fox is making, its not like they’re gonna completely erase the anime and make a new one. And just remember that this is an ADAPTION, as in its not going to be EXACTLY like the original series.
My point is, I’m getting sick of people bashing this, until an actual trailer comes out we have no real proof that this movie is really gonna be good or not cuz they still need to work on the effects and stuff, and these are the people who made the X-men trilogy and I’m impressed with the fight scenes.
So before anyone says this movie’s gonna be good or bad, lets wait for an actual trailer. I’ll bet half the people who are bashing this movie are gonna change their minds after the trailer.
Whew, that was long, but that’s all I have to say. Come on Piccolo, Goku, lets get some ice cream
April 21st, 2008 at 6:41 pm
nice post lady vi, i agree in almost everything except that i think you dont really need justification to be optimistic about anything, its never a bad thing to be optimistic
im very sure a lot of the people bashing this movie will go to see it if the trailers show that its gonna be a good movie
and im pretty sure it will be
April 21st, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Yeah you’re right, I just really want this movie to come out already so I can stop stressing over it.
You see, my good friend is a Die-hard Dragonball fan (she’s the one that got me into Dragonball) and when I told her about the movie she quickly said it was gonna be bad and she doesn’t wanna see it. I tried telling her “its just an adaption”, “it would be dumb if it was exactly like the anime” but of course she’s ALWAYS right because she’s seen ALL the anime, the only saga I got through was the Saiyan Saga and after that I couldn’t handle the 5 episode long fight scenes, so I only watch bits and pieces. So, I’m getting the manga for my birthday so it won’t be a problem.
Anyway, she’s basically not looking into it, she wanted to shoot herself when I told her Goku would be in high school (for like 5 minutes!!) and there’s just no getting through to her!
So I just pray that this movie is gonna be as awesome as Marsters says it will be, cuz then I can laugh in my friend’s face
April 21st, 2008 at 7:15 pm
Wow!! That made alot of since LadyVi. I totally agree with you.
April 21st, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Why thank you, I’d give you some ice cream but Goku ate it all
April 21st, 2008 at 8:59 pm
I totaly agree i mean all the stuff that we have seen from this site gets me pumped. Im just stressing about the trailer i wish it would just come already guh, but Lady Vi nice rant i sometimes cant hold it in and a feel like just yelling at everyone who is to big headed to have a open mind……..
Ice cream were
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
^i can’t believe he ate the three gallon jug from costco
^ goku… how can you eat so much
^ yeah some day when you stop training(*never*) all your muscle is going to turn into fat.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
April 21st, 2008 at 9:30 pm
You know, we need a message board, like a proboards or something. If I make one you guys would go right?

I keep reading it’s going to be an adaptation, over and over again, but if you are going to adapt something shouldn’t you keep key elements? I can totally understand that not a single person can completely adapt Dragonball in all it’s glory, but it is an legendary story.
Fox is not making a Dragonball movie, they are making a normal Hollywood flick to get money. Marsters is not going to stand up and say, “Doodz this moveh is gannah suck.” WTF? He won’t get his greenback then.
But I am not going to say that the movie will not suck. The fight scenes might be spectacular. The special effects might be mind blowing. But just because you slap the Kamehameha coming out of Chatwin, does not mean you can make a Dragonball movie.
What most fans, including Schemmel I do believe, we hold Dragonball close to our hearts. A live action film is something we would all care to see. A single clip of Goku and Piccolo fighting would be amazing, but an entire story?
Transformers and X-Men pulled in a bunch of money because their stories are never linear. Read the comics, there are HUNDREDS of different stories. Dragonball has one straight story. He had set friends, set foes.
You can not go adding and subtracting vital parts of the story.
So yes, go on and love the movie, and hate it. I am a skeptic that it will not do Dragonball justice in the fact that Dragonball is Toryiama-sans magnum opus.
Again, the movie may be good by visual standards, a real nice treat for the eyes, but it will not, and possibly never truly be Dragonball.

Vi- The reason people have been having problems with the movie for the last x amount of years, at least as I’ve heard, was that all of the information we had gotten was very bad (Nameccian ninjas, anyone?). Now, thanks to Marsters not keeping his mouth shut we’re actually getting -good- information. I only started to believe this movie might not suck when I realized it was Daimaou, not Pic, and through Marsters actually talking to us and letting us know that at least part of the cast cares about staying true to the character. If Fox would just tell us something instead of refusing to let any information out, then maybe my opinion would go up more.
It’s an adaptation, yes. I don’t have a problem with adaptation- I’ve been writing fics since I was 13 and I rather like some of the changes I’ve heard so far (Daimaou’s age, his motives, his costume). What matters most to me is that they’re true to the characters. If they somehow pull out a Son Goku who’s in high school but still has the heart and spirit of our Goku who barely knows how to read, then I’ll be all for it. We’ll just have to see.

People should think of this as an alternative view of the dragonball story, because thats exactly what it is, its james wongs version of it. its not akira toriyamas version, if you want that, go read the manga, or watch the anime
i do believe the most important aspects should be kept, such as the main characters personalities, basic storyline, but some changes are acceptable, and sometimes needed, if goku being in highschool is well justified and doesnt change his personality then im ok with that
By the way, the manga and anime will remain as great as ever no matter what happens with this movie, so im getting tired of reading this crap that this movie would ruin the anime or manga.
lady vi, yes we would go

But see, Dragonball isn’t James Wongs to change. The story has been a set story for the past 24 years.
What exactly gave him the right to take something and make it different? He doesn’t care about us, he doesn’t care about Dragonball, he just wants money, because if he cared he would have made a movie not based off any normal story line, and do make something like the movies from DBZ.
Then it would make sense to have all these crazy new characters and being able to take away major characters. Not when you are following the main story. It was said this is supposed to be Dragonball into Dragonball Z. If so, then why is it not?

Agreed Caleb.

This movie won’t change the way I see the manga either. I don’t regard it as canon. It’s not the real true DB story.

First off the story line is based off of a chinese legend of the munkey king look it up. Second its and adaptation So its not going to be the same you cant make it that same if you did it wouldn’t be worth seeing. plus just like anything like harry potter lord of the rings spiderman super man…. ANY THING you can’t fit every single last detail you JUST CAN’T so shut up I’m sick and tired of hearing all you pysco babal bull… trash talking bull crap… Was lord of the rings good harry potter any of the comic book movie any story about anything that the turned into a movie you can fit every thing into a movie that suposed to range from 1 hour to 3 hours it just can’t work out that way so shut up, things have to be changed, so what, you dont even know the full story as to y the did thing this way and made the changes they did. As for the boycotts and toriyama not liking the movie last i check he was excited, and all the bull about boycotts and shit all started with americans saying “hey we dont want to change any thing it was fine the way it was.” which are the same peopl that were like ” hey i love this show they should make a movie that would rock….” and know that ther doing it you have to complain abpout EVERY……..LITTLE…….FRIGGIN THING and its PISSIN everyone off CUZ we dont care DONT LIKE it heres and idea DONT WATCH IT….

caleb : “But see, Dragonball isn’t James Wongs to change. The story has been a set story for the past 24 years.

actually it is his to change now, because AKIRA TORIYAMA sold the rights to fox to do the movie, so it is fox´s (james wong) to change
like it or not, thats just the way it is
all these crazy new characters?? how many are there so far?? 2, 3?? come on, thats not an entirely new set of characters,of which you know nothing about, by the way
as i said, its not supposed to be the real true dragonball story, and thats a reason why i look foward even more to this movie. i want the main story with a little changes here and there. if i knew exactly how it would be from beginning to end, it wouldnt be as much interesting to watch as its gonna be
id still love it, but this sounds a little bit more interesting

as long as it remains loyal in the most important aspects im ok with it
so far we dont know enough to say its loyal or not
we know its not 100% loyal, but not how much actually
