Yes that’s right, a podcast! Thought we’d try something new here. Adam (from dbthemovie.com) and I have joined forces to create the ultimate (uh, well.. ) experience for your ears enjoyment. Actually, neither of us have ever done anything like this before… so it’s a bit rusty. But hopefully future episodes will be a lot better!

In this podcast we talk about everything that’s led up to this point. The cast, crew, teaser trailer, and don’t miss a special announcement at the end!

Adam was kind of asleep.. and I, well. Yeah…

    Questions for Brain Tyler!

    - Come the melodies of the old series, in the real movie, too?
    I mean Chala Head Chala…

    - What music store, do you want make? A realsitc epic story music, how it by the Lord of the Rings?

    - Can we sounds rock/metal music, too? For the action sequences?

    - Would you give Emmy Rossum a song, too? That she can sing this?

    ===

    @JP and Adam…

You guys are sooo great! Brillant!!! :)

  16. Anonymous Says:

why do people keep saying krillin was replaced when fox didn’t even clarify that, I bet you anything krillin will pop up in part 2 coming to master roshi’s house to train, and that dude Adam got’s a great radio voice it’s super deep lol, other dude sounds a bit fruity no offense, but this was cool, nice update.

  17. Anonymous Says:

What? Krillin an expendable character? Krillin is more important than you think, people should know this by now.

He’s featured more in posters, drawings, and covers than Tien and Yamcha.

He is the only one of the three Human Z-fighters that survived against Nappa and Vegeta. Goku, Krillin, and Gohan were the only ones left fighting during the Saiyin Saga.

He also played a huge role in Namek Saga, he made Goku go Super Saiyin and such.

  18. Anonymous Says:

the pod cast thing was pretty cool you guys should continue it its very interesting !! GOOD JOB

  19. JP Says:

    Once again…

I apologize for the lip/tongue thing I keep doing. Was very nervous going in!

But yeah, I get it! No need to keep telling me about it. ;)

  20. Jigsaw_93 Says:

yea DEFINATELY ask Brian Tyler about a poster or trailer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i thought the pod cast was pretty good and looking forward to #2!

and ask about if the characters are looking good.or if he could clarify about Krillin and Tien(i doubt he knows but its worth a shot)

  21. Anonymous Says:

FOX have a thing against white, bald midgets. You know, you have to be cool, to be in a FOX movie.

  22. CJB Says:

I bet you that they’ll turn Teto into a fighter or something, making him basically a latino Krillin. Krillin didn’t fight much anyways, but I do agree that he was a very important character to the series, hell, he was Goku’s best friend!

  23. Anonymous Says:

Something JP said about krillin, if you whiched the first season of dragonball krillin come late if he was there, and it looks to be the first season with a good villain, king piccolo.

  24. dukemon22 Says:

The point is Krillin, Tien and Chaotzu were expendable, per this movie.

There’s no reason they can introduce those characters at the beginning of movie 2. Krillin could be training with Goku during the 4 or 5 year gap. And then maybe have Radditz interrupt the World Tournament, i.e. Piccolo joins up with Goku, and after seeing Goku’s death, Tien and Chaotzu decide to fight with him as well.

A bit rushed, but it does kind of make sense, and I really wouldn’t mind if something like that happened.

    And a question for Brian:

Will there be any character specific themes? (Theme of Piccolo, Theme of Goku)

  25. Mark Says:

when there is a dragonball 2 movie krillin will bd in it, they need people to kill don’t they, and in one of the movies there will be a ssj goku so kill krillin it worked the first time, krillin will be there sometime.

    - Hey man. What’s the deal with that weird lip/clicky tongue thing?!

    I jest. I jest.

Keep the news coming, man. Congrats on your first podcast.

  27. Anonymous Says:

So whats the special announcement at the end.

  28. Merk Says:

Very cool JP, better than my podcasts haha.

  29. Anonymous Says:

    Question for Brain Tyler:
Original DB theme used at all? (Makafushigi adventure)
Also, will the music feel more like the original show or will it be more rock like the American or will it be just completely different.

  30. Anonymous Says:

I think you should ask Bryan Tyler when they expect the movie to be released and when a trailer is set to come out (obviously). But also how much of the fight scenes are gonna involve energy blasts and what not. Also are there for sure going to be sequals and if so would the saiyans arrival (for example) be foreshadowed in the first movie. Another question I’d like you to ask is that are they anticipating it to be a big hit like at least 100,000,000 dollars or just an average say 30,000,000 dollar film?

    Jello Gentlemen, Jim here.
Good podcast guys thanx for the up to date with everything.

I live in the uk and our most popular magazine “total film” released a pathetically small article on dragonball….

“Old-timers will probably be new to this loco franchise japanese manga franchise, set for its live-action bow in the summer.
It’s bonkers - all about a fella called goku (Justin Chatwin) who must nab seven Dragon ball before just-escaped-from-jail-after-2000-years piccolo (James Masters) does evil things…..

To me that sounds like nobody really cares much about the movie, saying that dragonball never took off in england because the people who had the rights for a European release had all ready dubbed it into german and french years before its release in the usa. They told funimation that they were not allowed to show their episodes in the uk as it was a european marketing ground. That is why it isn’t popular in the uk. however they did say that the release date is in the summer and this magazine was only released 2 days ago on thursday. I think that the information that they had was old and that the article had probably been written way before the release dates were changed.

On other good news… James Masters will be in the uk in one month and i’ll be meeting him at collectormania, I already have my ticket booked to have a chat and a photo with him can you guys think of an interesing question to ask him…..

all though he will have probably done a dozen articles by then and we’ll know everything…lol

    Never mind….take care gang

  33. DFTNSHXGRM Says:

liked the podcast for a change - keep it up!

Yeah, a question for Brian Tyler. I think we all want to know if the music is going to be “epic” styled as in Lord of the Rings, compared to a more “rock” score.

Also, will his music be featured in the tailer itself, or will they use something else for the trailer. I’d like to know if his music would be in the trailer, so that we can get a feel for what it will sound like in the actual film.

Will the score have any original music or new?

  40. Anonymous Says:

Question for Brian Tyler:Do U think this movie will make a huge box office hit?

  41. Anonymous Says:

i have a question what is the estimated lenght of the movie like 2hours or more? also how close are their make up work to the actual series and if you know that if some how goku hair is being edited by computer?

  42. Anonymous Says:

Even though krillin sucks, he wasn’t really that bad in DB, and has been there by Goku’s side in almost every battle, despite the odds. The movie really needs Goku to have a friend that he can properly spar with, not to mention his death is needed to get Goku really serious after loosing Krillin near the end of the previous tournament. That’s what really set a spark of hate for the antagonist here.

    But hold on….
Unless Krillin was dead before the setting of the movie (Reason for Goku being a teen at this point) and gets revived near the end, which may be the whole purpose for finding the dragonballs. But then again, there still hasn’t been any word on an actor playing as him, unless they’re just keeping their lips sealed on that.

Anyway, this is exactly why Krillin needs to be in the movie.

  44. zanny Says:

Umm.. i have a question u can ask. How bout..

As a composer and all, would u rather watch dragonball with its original score or the one bruce faulconer did.

And also, is his music for the movie, goin to be somethin like LOTR style, or mix it with rock and such.

    :)

  49. Anonymous Says:

id just like to state 1 thing. People have been s obssesed with krillin not being in the movie that they havnt adressed other issues. Such as what will the dragonballs look like. Or if capsule corp will hae anything to do with this movie. Or most importantly Will goku become an Oozarou?

  50. zanny Says:

“I’m really hoping he’ll remix some of Bruce’s songs, Bruce Faulconer is amazing.”

He’s the man that ruined dbz, if he had left it alone the way they did dragonball, everythin wouldve been perfect.

  51. Anonymous Says:

Come up with some questions that will prove whether or not he’s really a fan. I don’t think he is. He sounds like he just looked up some stuff on wikipedia.

    People are capable of lieing.

  52. Anonymous Says:

    Mark

What are you talking about? Gohan wasn’t in the last episode of Dragon Ball. The last thing you see in the anime version is Goku getting married to Chichi. In the manga it was just him and Chichi flying off on the Nimbus/Kintoun.

  53. Anonymous Says:

Ask him what his favorite song was from Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.

What does he like better? Dragon Ball, or Dragon Ball Z?

  54. Anonymous Says:

Nope sorry, you’re wrong. I don’t think I would like DBZ as much if it weren’t for Bruce’s scores. If you listened, I mean really listened to any of his work you’d know better. I have all 6 Bruce Faulconer Best of DBZ on my computer, trust me it’s very good music.

  55. www.myspace.com/coreywilson10 Says:

My favorite song on Dragonball Z was by Akira Toriyama the song was called Spirit vs Spirit….

It was played during Gohan transfomation to Super Saiyan level 2. That was during his battle with the evil cell. It was such a sad moment seeing Android 16 head get smashed by Cell foot. It was so sad, because he was Gohan’s friend. But watching Gohan’s expression toward his friend death was a moment in Dragonball you can never forget. That moment always brings tears to my eyes.

  56. zanny Says:

Some of his work, i will admit, i thought was pretty good, but there is never a moment of peace and quiet in the funi dub, its like so much noise when there shouldnt be any which i found quite annoyin.

  57. Anonymous Says:

Hello! We get to ask the composer questions? Woohoo! I have a small list, addressed to Brian (er, if you choose any of these questions, feel free to paraphrase, heh):

    1) There are different methods of composing. For instance, I have noticed that some movies have a few central themes, often character themes, that interweave throughout to help bring the over-arcing story more coherency. John Williams, to name an obvious example, does this. Some movies, alternately, are “through composed”, and no particular theme is necessarily repeated, or associated with a character, or is built up in a meaningful way through the film. I admit (if you couldn’t tell) that I prefer the former method. Which do you prefer, and are likely to use for Dragonball? Any insight into your composing method would be wonderful, in fact, as I am a composer myself.

    2) On that note, I would love to know, in your words, about your musical background, and if you have any helpful advice for aspiring composers? (My background right now: I just got a degree in composition, and am now studying sound recording. I think writing for movies would be tremendous fun, and have scored a few short films.)

    3) Do you have an idea yet of what this score will be in terms of instrumentation? A mix of electronic/orchestral, pure orchestra, or will you only partly score it, with rock music excerpts inserted sometimes? (I’m hoping it’s option one or two, though I know you have limited control over that.)

    4) When will you see the film and truly begin work on it? How long will you have to work on the film? Also, are you allowed to comment on the film, and if so, what can you tell us?

Alright, those are my questions! Thanks for reading, JP and Adam. :D Your podcast was very enjoyable.

(Also, About the clicking tongue thing- you might try a wind screen- for a makeshift one take a pair of women’s pantyhose, pull them over a wire frame, such as a bent out of shape coat hanger, and place that in front of the microphone.)

  58. Anonymous Says:

About Krillin, since many people seem to be commenting:

I think he was important for several reasons, but specifically, he died in the original Piccolo saga, which had a powerful effect on Goku. He was then brought back to life, and thus couldn’t die again, or he would stay dead. Then, on Namek, he is killed by Freeza. This is where things really come to a peak for Goku: his best friend, who never maliciously harmed anyone, has been hurt, tortured, and now killed by a truly despicable person. And this time, he can’t be resurrected! That is what sends him over the top, the injustice, the cruelty that holds power over another person’s life and death.

So…Krillin is important for Goku’s development. And cutting out his death in the Piccolo saga make for a much less meaningful Freeza fight, should we ever see it.

But honestly, I’m kind of liking the idea that he’s killed off really early in the film, and isn’t resurrected until the end. Probably won’t happen, I know, but it would be cool if it did, because at least it allows for, um…the Freeza scenario later on, basically. oO

Great Podcast, BTW! Keep it up!

This movie is going to be horrible for Dragonball -z-gt lovers everywhere, its going to be absolutely horrible. and justin chatwin, who is playing goku, is quoted saying “This is a great kids cartoon”….wtf…he has no Idea what he’s talking about and he is supposed to be portraying one of the most famous anime characters of all time? get this 10lb punk out of here.

  62. darksaibot88 Says:

I saw the trailer and…erm… i don’t know how to react… i mean, when i heard about Fox buying the rights for DB, I was really excited…they did the casting, really nice… i was really excited… until i started seeing pics of the movie… started to get really really sceptic… pictures of Master Roshi (i was wondering why didnt he look close to waht he looks like in the anime?)… and I read something like “Picollo turn green”… WHAT?!? Picollo doesnt turn green, he IS green… and James Marters who was sayin stuff like “I rather be fired than mess up Picollo”… hmmm… I think there is a glimpse of him in the trailer… when i saw it, i thought “what the hell is Darth Sidious from Star wars doin in dragon ball?”… and lets talk about the trailer… If i didnt know the title of it, if someone told me it was Forbidden Kingdom 2, i would believe him…

but hey… they still in post production so lets see… lets hope they can make me crave that film
