Dragonball Filming 70% Done

Posted by JP | Uncategorized | Saturday 16 February 2008 4:29 pm

Movieland spoke with the films publicist, Luis Reyes, who gave an update on the state of production.

“We just shoot exterior scenes, we are now within a jeans factory that adapt to the typical scenes of Dragon Ball …” All the scenes that we have been spectacular in the right climate here. The truth is that everything has been perfect, especially for the support of the people”

Despite wearing a month and a half in Durango, Reyes explained that so far no one in the production has felt tired, despite the long working hours … “We work six days a week, and there is not much time to leave But on Sundays, in addition to rest, the young have fun here, go to restaurants or the square of the capital … “Durango is a quiet place, we can see that there is great tradition of cinema, and the players are happy “.

Movieland is also reporting that because the film is still early in production we may not see anything promotion wise until the summer.

  5. Oma Says:

uhm .. a month in a half and already 70% done ..dont u find this going a bit too fast??? is that normal?

  6. JP Says:

    2 1/2 months… out of a 4 month shoot.

  7. Anonymous Says:

who here thinks this movie wont be released till 2009, cause theres lots of rumours going around about this

  8. Anonymous Says:

What the HELL! o_O nothing until summer!!! Ummmm there already 70% finished…what the hell will the be doing the next four months?

  9. Jeff Says:

for all you people who are afraid of this film being RUSHED, let me remind you of some filming times.

Jet Li’s Fearless, his final martial arts epic, was filmed in 60 days (View special features dvd for proof)

Robocop, was also filmed within 2 months, (check dvd for proof too)

So far this movie is beyond 4 months in filming.

And if you want quality, Terminator 2 was filmed on 100 million dollar budget, which is what the budget for this movie is.

Anyone who thinks this movie is rushed, or underfunded needs to get a grip on reality.

So hopefully this will nip all the pointless and ignorant bitchin’ in the butt.

  10. squeak Says:

Whoa already seventy percent done I guess it’s possible but I hope they aren’t doing anything half assed. They have a huge team so it kind of makes sense that they are getting done quickly. Wonder how long it’ll take for them to get all of the special effects done with.

  11. Anonymous Says:

They build the sets inside a ean factory. That is what they mean.

  12. Son Goku Says:

I also translated this. I used the google and some of my own Spanish skills for the stuff that didn’t make sense. To the person who asked what they mean by Jeans factory. They meant that they converted a Jeans factory to a set for one or more of the scenes they are filming in the movie.

  13. DJ Says:

Didn’t 300 only take like this amount of time to film? I thought most of the films length was in production and not filming.

  14. Sean Says:

i doubt the movie will be pushed back. HIGHLY doubt it. They say we’ll have to wait till summer to see any promotional stuff. Say, we have to wait till June; that still gives maybe 2 - 2 1/2 months till the movie comes out.

The new indiana jones just barely released its first teaser tailer, and that movie is due in like, 3 months.

  15. kaypain Says:

nice news JP….for the record has anyone seen Jumper yet…my god that movie was just so wierd, it didn’t get good until the end…why I took my girl to see that on Valentine’s day is beyond…me

  16. Anonymous Says:

thats pretty stupid, 70% done, and no promotion till summer, makes no sense

  17. Anonymous Says:

    Jeff’s speaking the truth.

In reality, you’re looking at technology, organization and execution of these projects advancing.

Perhaps these people didn’t have months to study their roles and the story, however, the ability to act, as you know, is not too difficult to acquire, with enough practice anyone can be good at it(keep in mind that also depends how badly you desire it), however not all are “spectacular’. You’ll probably be looking at mediocrity, actor-wise, but movies these days seem to be rewarded more with the special effects & writing rather than acting, simply because the film industry is gradually losing its grip on their productions of appealing stories and characters. Good actors are no longer given roles interesting enough to feel the need and want to attempt their best at portraying characters. Hollywood’s letting you see more story execution, shock value, gratuitous visuals, and comedy, practically. We’re pretty lucky to be able to see all of our favorite cartoons being adapted like this. If Hollywood still has anything to work with, it’s older material that has yet been adapted, or has been before, but poorly.

You know why you’ll see this. Don’t complain. If they alter something that’s against your liking, then you’re right that it should have been done differently, in your own mind.

  18. Anonymous Says:

Most likely the rest of the months is doing post and CG work up the ass!

  19. Anonymous Says:

Hell…I thought they just started filming a few weeks ago. This better be longer than a 90 minute movie.

  20. DFTNSHXGRM Says:

they didn’t say they’re done filming. they’ll probably be finished filming by march and start doing promos for the film in late april/early may.

soon we’ll start seeing a teaser, then a full length trailer, toys, tv spots, ect.

they need to promote that shit by putting dragon ball or dbz back on cartoon network!

  21. Anonymous Says:

Just a few more issues on perspective…

    - 300 was filmed in 60 days.
    - Hellboy 2 has an estimated budget of 75 million.
    - The Matrix had an estimated 63 million budget.
    - Casshern had a 6 million budget!!

What seems to be the problem is that you people are adhering to an epic Hollywood stereotype - Not all great movies cost 200mil and take 3 years to film. Open your minds a little.

  22. sniper2 Says:

i cant wait to see the movie
i think its going to be great..

  23. KP Says:

yeah….thats how I got into Dragonball, they first started broadcasting DB in 1995 in the U.S., then Cartoon Network brought on DBZ in the early 2000s, when I first saw it and I though it was stupid at first cuz I happened to come across an episode where someone was powering up throughout half the episode looking like he had to take a shit

    WE NEED KRILIN/KURIRIN II
    the return

He must appears in the movie.
Maybe the authors want to give to Yamsha the importance of Kuririn in the manga but it’s a real mistake.
Kuririn was here to show us a shy human, physically not very attractive, someone who laughing about himself , a sort of looser. He was a complex character with human interrogations about his weakness.
However,he was always here to help his friends and surpass himself, his condition.
Indeed an american movie prefers to show us a big hero, a Perfect teenager (for silly teenagers), who have success with women…as yamsha…
Obviously these american won’t never change…
If they don’t add krilin they will make a big bullshit and lots of fan (the major part of the audience in fact) will be disappointed !

I’M READY TO POST THIS TEXT EVERYWHERE BEFORE the “SHOOTING TIME LIMIT”. IT S NOT TOO LATE !!!

If you are agree with me please recopy it (make some changes if you want…)and post it on others web pages about the film .Let’s talk about Krilin on internet and maybe he won’t be forgotten in the movie.

    To JEFF :

why are you so optimistic in your comment wrote february 14 ???

    To Vivi-from-germany and everybody :

It will be very difficult to reintroduce krilin in a sequel.Characters’s feelings will be too alterated,…So, he must be there.
In top of that , my opinion is clear…If you read my text on Krilin…I’m not talking about a fussy adaptation…I don’t want the authors to recopy Toryama’s storyboard…What I m trying to explain is about the importance of some characters in a work…
There is a state of mind in Dragon Ball which take his inspiration in the european, chinese , japanese and also american culture.Akira Toryama explained that Krilin was created to play a sarcastic human first, but his part and his relation with Goku lead him to do some changes about this character.
Indeed, krilin show us someone typically different from the others characters…He brings lot of sensibility and humanity .He is mixed up but not desperate ,he is weak but not cowardly…Krilin is not an hero, he is not a champion, he is not a seducer, too. He is just an poor human lost in a strange world where he can play his part.

These peculiar, complex characters are the reason of the sucess of lots of movie (Remember Star wars first trilogy and all these charismatic characters.20 years after 50 millions of fan in the world…)

An american production needs these sort of characters today, because the time is now and now!!!and that adaptation needs this singular guy for the spirit of dragon ball.

If as me you are a dragon ball fan, if as me you had a friend at the playtime who recalled you Krilin…
If as me you want a change in the american film-making.If as me you want a change in America!!
IF AS ME YOU WANT TO GO OUT FROM THE THEATRE AT THE END OF THE MOVIE AND SHOUT KAMEHAMEHAAAAAAAAAA WITH A FUCKING SMILE OF VICTORY AND POWER, you’ll understand why Krilin is so important.

  25. Anonymous Says:

Just… let it go. When it comes to krillin… we lost. The war is over.

  26. theIrategamer Says:

filming is not going too fast. It’s pretty normal for a movie to take only a few months to film. Alot of it will be taqken over into post production to add all the effects and stuff.

  27. Anonymous Says:

krillin isn’t lost, I bet you anything he will be in part 2, coming to mater Roshi’s house for training.

  28. Anonymous Says:

how far into the story does this go, what saga in the series? does it go into dbz at all?

  29. Anonymous Says:

the rest of the time will be post-production, they need to do alot of special efx and make it run smoothly.

  30. JoseMP Says:

Hey TheIrateGamer, im now sure you are Chris Bores after watching your 2008 top 10 summer movies list video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br_oJlSF11Y

Its good to know you are also fan of DB and DBZ. You own man, and your video games videos are great too! :D

  31. Anonymous Says:

The amount of time they are taking for filming is perfectly normal, but as others have said I just can’t see how they can put off promo stuff until summer when the movie comes out in August….most big movies have at least a teaser trailer out 6 months before the movie is released, sometimes even a year before. For something that hasn’t been in most people’s minds for several years now, I don’t know if 2-3 months of promo stuff is going to do much to make this movie successful.

  32. Anonymous Says:

the first saw movie was done under a million dollar budget and that turned out good, i think the punisher was shot in 18 days

  33. Newfuture Says:

Is anyone else pissed off that there isn’t going to be a flying nimbus? I mean seriously, that’s some bullshit right there. I’ll still watch the movie though, over and over and over and over.

  34. Guru Says:

great, now the reel Dragonball has 30% of life left.
