This is going to be great, I can feel it. I have extremely high hopes for this film (and high standards) and so far everything feels good.
The orange gi look pretty good to me… I seriously want to see Justin in one though.

Well well. These pics are kinda crappy quality and way oversaturated, so we can’t really trust them for any final look or opinion on the costumes.
But so far, I like what I see. Let’s take a look…
Kame gi looks great. Faithful to the original, with a few cool little embellishments. I especially like the patterns on the shoulders.
In that same picture… is that Mai, maybe? She’s the only one we know of so far that might be wearing a costume like that.
The other one a bit farther down, with the one girl in purple and the other guy. Not sure what these costumes are, but the guy’s looks a bit Yamcha-ish.

WOW, this is pretty awesome. I translated the page and read it. A few things I thought were worth sharing:
1. Justin Chatwin is described as being very kind and simple. In my opinion, from the interviews he seems a little dim, which is great because thats exactly like goku. Also, they say he said he’s a fan of the show which is pretty cool in my opinion.
2. Jamie Chung apparently is a real b*tch, which also doesnt surprise me… and sort of fits with ChiChi’s character as well.
3. James Marsters wasnt there for whatever reason, I assumed hes not going to be needed for any of the scenes shot in Durango.
4. I didnt here anything about Steven Chow producing…I heard another name dropped for the producer instead. Even though Chow said he wouldnt have any real impact on the movie, he would only fund it, the fact that I didnt see his name still bothers me.
5. Yeah, I like Goku’s clothes too

I think Chatwin seems pretty cool off Camera. He is going to make a excellent Goku! Im glad to finally hear him talk about Dragonball. I liked when he said
“The Character of Goku is an important character im playing. It’s been around on kids cartoons for awhile. Hopefully I’ll do the job right!”
Hey what’s the deal with Jamie Chung not interviewing???? I guess she has to stay true to her character.

I think the costumes are great, the costumes in the anime were never ” Normall ” hence i like the look they have gone with the costumes.

Does anyone know if the character of Tien will be in this film? I know about the rumors of Krillin, which sucks. But Tien was also a very important warrior in Dragonball.

The gi’s look awsome. I’m assuming the turtle school is going to be a lot bigger than in the manga/anime. I also saw a sign that said crane, and I’m wondering if it means the crane school?
We probably won’t see Marsters for a while, especially if he’s dawning the entire Piccolo look. That’ll probably be shot in sound stages, just because the green would be kind of hard to light in the open like that.

Yeah, Emmy probably hasn’t gotten her wig put on yet. But at least you can see some “Bulma-esque” clothes under the black robe, which I assume is there to hide it from the press conference cameras. Big boots, motorcycle gloves, and ski goggles around her neck, just like her first appearance in Dragonball.
And I love the Kame gis. Looks like Roshi is training a full school now, though, instead of just Goku, Krillan, and Yamcha.
I can’t tell if the girl in red or purple is ChiChi or Mai. The purple outfit acutally looks kinda like the second outfit Bulma had in the desert…
Any clues on what the indoor set is of? Some kind of cave?
And about Marsters, I bet that Piccolo might appear for a few scenes in the beginning, to taunt the heroes, and then revert back to a cave or temple hideout to prepare for the climatic final battle. Meanwhile, the heroes will spend their time training, collecting Dragonballs, and fighting other villains-who-want-dragonballs like Mai.

I feel those costumes look way to cheap, don’t get me wrong they look originaal to the show just really low bugdet. I agree with the guy bbefore me who said this could look like one of those cheap power rangers show and not a high budget or even medium budget hollywood movie. And I’m sure you’ve guys talked about it already but aren’t the fighters in DB supposed to be large in terms of muscles, even if they are in the teens, Goku was still big in his first fight with piccolo.

The more I see the more I’m getting depressed. Its early but this is looking bad already. This guy looks nothing like Son Goku. I can’t even picture a white guy walking around named Son Goku. I’m not trying to be politacally incorrect. I just recall, Dragonball is supposed to be a retelling of Journey to the West meets Superman. Son Goku is clearly supposed to be the Asian Superman. Typical Hollywood missed that point. I smell another Superman Returns.

i really really want this movie to work. i dont like to be sceptical, however the costumes do appear low budget, almost looks like a fan flick at this stage.
marsters Q+A gives me confidence in the film, he obviously has faith in it so i think i can place mine in it too. i hope they release more pictures or clean up the look in the editing, either way i really don’t want this film to be ruined, an adaption such as spiderman or transformers would be brilliant, thats what im banking on.

JAMES WONG SHOULD START THE MOVIE OFF WITH FRATHER OR GOKU BARDOCK FOR THE FRIST 20 TO 30 MINS THEN MOVE INTO THE DRAGON BALL STORY. IT WOULD MAKE SENCE LIKE, HOW SUPERMAN FRIST CAME TO EARTH.

Im glad that James Chow decided to have more students be trained by Master Roshi. Instead of just Goku, Krillin, and Yamacha. It’s more real that way. Plus it shows Master Roshi having authority.

goku better have a tail… I can see the movie looking like crap but there is some hope, if you look at the 300s set pics before the cgi lol theres just dudes in capes and green screens and it turned out great so PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF everything Dragon DON’T screw this movie up or people are gonna go nucking futs!

I agree, This site freakin’ rocks!!!! Im on it everyday now. I think I might be addicted to it. I have it set as my homepage. The reason I like this site is, because they update news really fast. They don’t waste no time finding Dragonball news. I also like this site, because they let the fans interact with the voting and all. Which is pretty cool! I just hpe who ever yuns this site keeps up the good work! Sometime news do go unoticed (like new set picture that came on the following day after we saw gokus gi[not much knew thouhg), but that is just minor stuff.

for onwe thing while dragonball and dragonball Z may be japanese cartoons. goku should be played by a white guy (in fact every single human and saiyan character should be played by a white or black (depending on the character obviously) person) becaaause
in the anime and the manga they LOOK white. their faces resemble white people WAY more than asian people. the same goes for most anime characters.
anyway, i hope these arent really set pictures because everything looks REALLY tacky. if they pull a DOA with this movie im going to have to remove somebodys vital organs

First of all, I’m not comfortable with the fact that the movie is coming out in aug. It seems too rushed to me. Usually hollywood movies takes at least two years to film, edit, etc. It would be nice if it were to play in theaters but it might be a straight to DVD movie. We’ll see.
Yeah I have to agree with many others who have come before me… the pic of Goku’s gi is scaring me a little but idk, I just have this feeling that this movie will have a cheesy factor about it. Seeing that the budget for this film is pretty high does give me some hope and I’d much rather see a Spiderman movie quality than a Power Rangers movie quality. Well we’ll see.
About the pics, the guy playing Goku seems like a good match(though in one of the pics w/a close up of his face his pupils were so dilated they looked scary)
The rest of the characters, I couldn’t tell who they were playing or what they were wearing. I wish there was labels under the pics telling who they were…

This is awesome i cant wait until it comes out in theaters. Though i really hope they do get a better costume i can deal with those as being their costumes. Is this movie including Dragonball Z or do you think theyll make a sequell?

this movie is supposed to be under wraps. maybe these pics were planted so we couldnt see the real ones.i mean im sorry but a guy with a phone isnt going to get pics of something that people dont want him to get pics of. in my opinion these are just bs the producers are handing us to throw us off the trail. there is no way those guys would do something so lame with the possibilities of todays resources.
