Eriko and Emmy Blog *Update*

Eriko Tamura updated her blog which you can view here.

Thanks to our reader Dukemon for the translation:

Shooting is going really well! Everyone is surprised. My part is very interesting, but I still cannot talk about it. Jim, Producer Tim, and Peter, who had flown to the set the day before yesterday, as well as the crew, are all in good spirits.

My wardrobe is very diverse, and it takes a long a time to put on the make up and decide the clothes I wear for certain scenes. Some of the wardrobe for certain scenes has not appeared as of yet. A studio movie like this is a very time consuming job for everyone.

Moreover, I am very honored to be working with the competent Chow Yun Fat. Our first scene filmed together was last week, for 2 or more hours, in the interior of a mountain. We met, and he greeted me very kindly. We were able to talk, and he seems like an interesting, gentle person.

Eriko plays Mai in the film.

Emmy Rossum has also updated her blog with some interesting details about filming in the desert.

I’ve been listening to some harder music to access the edge inside me to bring to the character, some Lincoln Park and Dream Theater. I’m enjoying developing the character and training, learning to ride a motorcycle has been thrilling.. Its manual, so I’ve been learning all about clutch and throttle (don’t laugh, this is all new to me!) And I think I’ll be able to drive a stick-shift car after this film too!

Right now I am writing from a helicopter (with my costars, Chow Yun Fat, his lovely wife and Joon Park). We are on our way to the desert where we will be filming for the the next few days. I am the lucky one who gets to sit up front with the pilot (who was very careful to instruct me not to touch anything; knobs, controls or otherwise) Chow and Joon are taking pictures in the back and we are having a lot of fun. The landscape is alternating between, rolling sand dunes, green mountains dotted with cactus and farms layed out in geometric order with terracotta colored earth.

Another post from Emmy:

I’m happy to report I’m finding little bits of time on set in between takes to write you. Today we woke up in Torreon, a pretty big city in Mexico, at about 4:30am. We drove an hour to set, just outside Dunas de Bilbao. Our location is, what I can only describe as, a sand dune desert. I’ve been riding the motorcycle in 4-foot sand drifts since sunrise to get the shot just right. The wonderful, kind and talented Chow Yun Fat is hanging on for dear life in back. We’ve been doing about 40mph, and over bumpy sand dunes that is enough to make anyone a little queasey. Chow is so kind, so calm and a bit of a prankster (which I love!) and he hasn’t complained once. The sand is pretty deep here, and we’ve had to dig the bike out a few times when it has stalled in the drifts, but the crew and stunt guys and girls are so helpful.

Roshi on the back of the bike? Sounds hilarious. Read more.

    Buenos Tardes

    Hi everyone!

Happy new year! Thank you for your sincere holiday wishes and the
lovely poster/project some of you sent to me. It is truly special and I
am proud to put it up in my house. I can see how much time and care
went into creating it and that really touches me! It made my holiday
    THAT much more special!

Since the new year I’ve been back on the set of “Dragonball.” In
addition to working in Durango, we’ve been shooting in some pretty
remote yet stunning locations. So, I’ve been litterally “out of range”
for a few days at a time. We shot in Mexiquillo, about 2 hours outside
of Durango where the landscape is amazing and looks - in places - much
like the forests of New England. The dense green trees reminded me of
New Hampshire and Maine, and made me feel very at home. The sunrises and sunsets are really spectacularly beautiful..
Mexiquillo is pretty remote, and there weren’t any hotels around, so we
were actually “camping” in log cabins, all together. It was exactly
what you’d imagine, campfires at night with smores and kumbaya… Okay,
maybe not kumbaya, but we did do the smores! Its been a LOT of fun,
especially bonding with the cast. All the actors get along great! After only a few weeks shooting we already have inside jokes and pretty
    much know each others life-stories.
I’ve been listening to some harder music to access the edge inside
me to bring to the character, some Lincoln Park and Dream Theater.

upload some pics later when I can connect my camera to my laptop.
Also, I’m attaching a picture from the cockpit right now!

On another note, l want to say how deeply saddened I am by Heath
Ledger’s sudden passing. I did not know him very well, but well enough to see
he was a kind man, a devoted father and an immense talent. My heart
goes out to his family and his young daughter in this time of grief. He
    will be so missed.

    Love,
    Emmy

you spelled Linkin Park wrong, its ‘Linkin Park’ not ‘Lincoln Park’.

  9. VEGETApsycho Says:

hey! This is awesome news here! I actually had a litle doubt that Emmy’s gonna be an awkward choice for Bulma from how shes a lil too sweet and bubbly to play a sassy-edgy teenage Bulma for a while. But now that shes mentioned that shes working hard to develop her character as Bulma to get out her essence more, like listeningto usc that seems so oposite of her typical tastes, using a machine gun, riding a motorbike….

    I have to say

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BLOG UPDATES SO FAR!!! Emmys role is so awesome now!!!

oh and wth Joon Park mentioned in the cockpit as well, hmm I think this was when they finally meet up with each other, and here comes that teasing in the sand cave but then Yamcha saves them in the end and stuff (as mentioned in the biographies of the charaters)^____^ hmm, theyare making progress no that i thought of it…

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH HELL YESSSSSSSS SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY EPIC, DON’T FAIL ME, WONG!

  11. Anonymous Says:

Oh no, I think it is happening. I knew it would happen somehow.Damn! I knew it! I just can’t beleive it. I am starting to fall for Emmy. I might be in love! how I wish I was playing Yamcha.

  12. VEGETApsycho Says:

Back to set, I’m really enjoying getting to know Joon Park. I’m not allowed to spill any secrets, but our characters interact a lot in the film. If you don’t know a lot about Joon, in addition to being an actor, he has a massively successful band in Korea (he writes a lot of the music) and is also a great dancer. Not only is Joon very cute and extremely charming, he’s gracious and very down to Earth. We’ve been trading music, giving each other some of our favorite stuff – he happens to love classic rock. Because everyone’s taste in music is so personal, I’ve found music a very good way to get to know someone.

This is how shes gonna develop her romantic side in this movie for Yamcha/Joon? GO EMMY WOOT WOOT!!

I cant wait till Vegeta comes out in the sequels

  13. ultimatesn5000 Says:

I can hear the fan boys bitching now. “Master Roshi was never riding on a motorcycle with Bulma in the Manga/Anime! This movie’s going to suck!”

  17. Anonymous Says:

    Wow! Cooool!

So atleast the desert, yamcha and bulma thing is the same as the series!!! Phew!!

I am getting REALLY sick of these mexican news articles. For fuck sake, can we PLEASE have some professional translations XD.

No offense but this is an American film and everyone in the movie will be speaking english, it only makes sense that we get at least SOME english-written articles.

With all due respect sir (or miss), The people that are writting these spanish articles are not doing it for the world or for the english speakers, They are writting it for the mexican people. They live close, dragonball is popular in there, they report it; in spanish. If you would like to see more English news, then find a person in Durango that has good sources, a good website, and speaks english. The truth is that those who report the news in Mexico are not going to spend their time translating every article into English, for their base of readers is spanish. But if you have trouble understanding any article, I can translate it for you and others :)

But you are right, there is a lack of official and profesional news. All we get are undercover people digging up news.

  22. Anonymous Says:

I know it sounded rude, but I put “no offense” because I was just ranting and the majority of people interested in this movie speak english and not spanish.

  23. MorningBreeze6 Says:

The majority of the people interested are English speakers? I am sorry but that is highly debatable. Do you realize just how many times biger Latin America is in comparison to the United States and how huge the Dragon Ball fan base is here? Believe me, I am sure the general acceptance and hype over this movie is not only comparable but perhaps bigger than in the States. Please try to be a little more careful about the things you post and how you make them sound. Be thankful that there are news getting leaked out, even if they are in Spanish. At least there are people willing to translate. At the same time, for once, the Spanish Speaking audience have a little lead. It´s mostly the other way around that they have to try and translate everything because things are 99% of the time in English. But they are used to managing.

PPS: I’m trying to start an on set video-blog-diary, but I’m not too good with my camcorder yet and my shots look a bit like “Cloverfield” at the moment. So bear with me and I hope I can get it working soon! xx

Is she really going to put some behind the scenes videos? I really am in love with this woman.

  25. Anonymous Says:

Who the hell is this Mai character Eriko Tamura is playing? I can’t remember a character with that name in the anime or manga.

Is she supposed to be that girl who goes blonde when she snezzes?

  26. Anonymous Says:

Mai is emperor Pilaf’s hench women. Altough in this movie she will take direct orders from King Piccollo.
Is it just me or is anyone else hanging out to see a poster?
