More Chow In Dragonball, And Marsters Blurbs
A fan site for Chow Yun-Fat has a few more comments from the actor about Dragonball, though they didn’t list a source for their information.
Yesterday [Chow Yun-Fat] has confirmed that 20th Century Fox executives have contacted him. He expressed that DRAGONBALL was a great opportunity and honestly said that he has never played a Japanese manga character. He has only heard about DRAGONBALL many times but has not made any in depth study. After the film company contacted him, he started to read the manga and felt that the role had a lot of possibilities. Although he was not the lead in the manga, he did not mind as long as the role had potential. [Chow] honestly said that after several decades of acting, now he would only accept roles with room to demonstrate his abilities. After confirmation next January he would head to Mexico for location shoots and stay until mid March.
UPDATE:
Didn’t think it was worth a new post, but since it falls into the same category as this post, I’ll just put it here.
Anyways, on James Marsters official fan site he mentioned Dragonball quickly in one of his Q&A’s.

I love the comment by Marsters, about how he can’t eat pie or cake. Water only, lol.

That article was a joke because of Holy Innocents’ Day (which is like April Fools); the article itself even mentions that it’s just a joke. =)

The Live Action adpatation of DragonBall has been canceled.
On September it was announced tha the characters of the franchise,DragonBall, would be taken to the big screen through living, breathing actors. Many recived the news with open arms and much talk about information that was spread on the net and many forums had much speculation for this live action. But,even after all that was talked,Fox decided to pull the plug on this project for now until further notice.
Filming officially started December 15 and lasted until the 23rd,giving a break for the holidays, with the intention of continuing filming at the state of Durango,Mexico. But then Fox went on to cancel the proyect.
In an excecutive meeting at Fox,it was announced that filming of DragonBall wasn’t neccesary at the moment, since director James Wong decided to abandon the proyect because of unrreconsiable(sp?) differences.
Meanwhile,Chow Yun Fat,who was to play Master Roshi, was about to start filming a part in January, but after studying the orginal story, decided not to be a part of the proyect. (Maybe he didn’t like the fact that Roshi was a pervert?)
Adding more fuel to the fire concerning the actor, young Justing Chatwin was asking for a raise in his salary because the DragonBall francise is a multi-million dolar franchise, and in a talk between producers and Chatwin’s representative said producers agreed on the raise, but after a big dispute that occured last November.
Fox Studios said that production may resume in about 2 years, for a possible December 2010 release.
Although there is the possibility to make DragonBall through CGI,much like the recent BeoWulf. But the studios haven’t said anything on them taking this route.

Ok that’s not true, because Emmy Rossum said she is excited to play Dragonball with Chow yun fat next year. She confirmed that December 25th on her myspace blog. That’s pretty recent to me….

So people don’t believe that spanish article. It’s not true!!!

I NEVER in my post said I believed it or that it was true,I just translated it for people to know what it said. Also I tried to search for the source and couldn’t find one,it’s most likely fake.
December 30th, 2007 at 8:24 pm
I checked the source and I could not find any article that stated anything about the movie being delayed. So yeah it’s false.

I’m really stoked about this movie!
January 12th, 2008 at 12:27 pm
I think it is a big mistake to make Dragonball into a movie. I can’t believe that Chow Yun Fat would take the role as Master Roshi too. Shall anyone make Doraemon into a movie next? May I suggest Chow Yun Fat as Doraemon?
