Dragon Ball Begins Shooting?

Posted by JP | Uncategorized | Monday 26 November 2007 7:25 am

While browsing around online this morning I came across a interesting bit of unconfirmed news.

According to this side at AuditionSides.com it would appear that Dragon Ball begins principal photography today, 11/26/2007, in Montreal, Canada. This does support earlier reports that (at least part of) the film is going to be filmed in Montreal. This also supports the Variety and Hollywood Reporter articles that said filming was set to begin this month.

Nothing is confirmed as of yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know what we find out!

DBMB is happy to confirm reports that artist Dan Fraga is working on the storyboards for 20th Century Fox’s live action adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s popular manga Dragon Ball.We were lucky enough to get a quick word from Dan on how things are going with the film:

Jim is a joy to work with.
Outside of letting you know that I’m having a dream come true, helluva time, I can’t say anything more.

Thank you for reaching out. I’m a huge fan of Dragon Ball and I’m working my hardest to have earned the great honor of working on the film.

Dan Fraga has previously worked on Transporter 2 and Fantastic Four: Rise Of Te Silver Surfer.

This isn’t 100% confirmed, as I discovered it on IMDB. But according to the recent page update, Illustrator Alex Tuis is on board as the conceptual designer of all the creatures appearing in the movie.

Tuis’ web portfolio can be found at the following link:

More DBZ Rumblings. . .

Kotaku.com is reporting that Mexican actress Camilia Sodi auditioned for the role of Bulma in Dragon Ball.

My personal opinion? I think she’s cute. She also has a certain edge that I’ve noticed in some of her pictures that would suit the character well. Just hope she looks great with blue hair!

It seems Fox is going with a very diverse cast, witch I always thought they should (sure it’s a manga, but that doesn’t make everyone Japanese). The major roles of Chi Chi, Roshi, Gohan, Bulma and Yamcha are yet to be cast (unless Fox is keeping mum) Look for official cast announcements in the following weeks.

UPDATE:
Another Mexican actress, this time Martha Higareda, auditioning for Bulma.
